Shoot for the base of the neck walking away.

I was lining up on a 140s class 8 a while back and he turned and was trotting away. I just went ahead and took the slack out of the trigger.

So close to heading out this afternoon. Getting colder throughout the day, cloudy, no more meetings. Yeah it's gonna happen.

Aggervating, but you did the right thing. Its much easier to go home knowing you didnt take a bad shot, than it is taking a bad shot and injuring the deer

Wife, middle son, and myself all hunting this evening.
I’m going to my dad’s old stand overlooking a long narrow field .
My wife is going to a tripod on the creek.
My son is going to a new clearing we made this summer. There has been increased activity on our place the past few days.
Good luck to all.

I'm up. Did a short walk in, no one else is out here. I either get lucky or I enjoy some woods time. Win-win. This spot has all the weird tree noises creaking in the wind.

Hunting a shooting house in a food plot with my 30-06. 48 degrees and very breezy out of the north. Last night was relatively calm but nothing was moving. I've had poor results hunting when it is windy. Hoping for a reversal of fortune tonight.

It was a great ~3 hour sit. I got to watch a healthy 4 point for 10 minutes or so until he became aware of me and then proceeded to trumpet about it for 5 minutes, all while staying in range where I could have shot him. I think it was a 4, definitely not much up top but it was hard to tell even when I scoped in on it. Not much either way, but like I said he had a thick build. If I didn't have 3 in the freezer I might have done it. Still, good to find success post-rut and be in position. Will be back there. I'm done with fields, I really don't think the deer go there during the day at the WMAs.

Got him about an hour after this. Climbed down at 10:30. Got to the bottom rung of the ladder and a dose crossed. Climbed back up and waited. 5 min later he came out nose to the ground. Pew pew.

I’ve been in the cruzr for a few years but still am not crazy about setting it up in the dark. Sat in it today for about 6 hours.
