- It’ll be the largest data center in the world, at 18 million square feet
- The site will span over 6,000+ acres (9 square miles)
- It will use up to 11 GW
- The on-site generation is described as producing more electricity than 15 states use at their peak

We have one going up too. Same story as to how city council approved it, signed NDA's and gave them multi billions in tax abatements. Tried to petition against it but judge threw it out. There are houses and a school nearby and elec/water bills are already going up and it's not built yet.

the water is used, meaning gone forever?
Not anymore. The new data centers are using closed loop systems, so the water is recycled. Also the new centers are using behind the meter power so it shouldn’t raise rates for consumers.

And though closed loop centers still use water, but more like a public swimming pool worth/ day.
Careful, every time I tell folks this, or that power companies require it not to impact residential rates or reliability, I get downvoted. So much misinformation given out there these day, I can't blame them.

So here’s what’s happening
“Let me connect these dots for you because this is not a conspiracy. This is literally happening right now — Local governments are footing the bill for brand new power lines, road upgrades and fire stations. Meanwhile, data centers are the literal physical buildings running this AI and they're getting billions in tax breaks. One estimate just ballooned from $327 million to $2.5 billion in breaks. That's your tax money subsidizing the infrastructure that they're gonna turn around and charge you to use”
Once this infrastructure is built out, they plan on charging Americans on a “meter system” just like they do water, power and electricity
Local governments and industries will use it, and we’ll all be paying monthly for it
We are paying for them to build it, so they can turn working and charge us for it

“It's a community made up of mostly elderly people and people with disabilities in a trailer park. Now those families are being told they need to make way for a massive data center. The notice came this weekend for 28 mobile homeowners”
“For the past several months about an unnamed AI firm that began offering landowners in Mason County up to 10 times what their land is worth — That purchaser is an unnamed AI company that is attempting to put a 2000 acre hyperscale data center complex near Maysville.”

And where does the water go? Does itt magically disappear. Water can be retained and circulated

The Texas panhandle is like a tornado magnet. Plenty of flat land to build on but this seems like a huge gamble.

That will leave taxpayers on the hook for the tax abatements.

They still have to use more water every year, just not as much allegedly as when they first filled up. Maybe 1/8th as much.

Elon and all of the tech guys are going to kill all human beings and replace us with all of their robots. We can all watch how it unfolds while we are chilling up in heaven looking down

Where are you all getting the specific information on water usage? How do you know whether the datacenter will employ a cooling tower or a pass-through cooling system?
Posted on 4/6/26 at 3:37 pm to FLTech
Wouldnt more advanced chips just mean the data centers have more computing power? I dont see how a more powerful chip makes them obsolete.
Now a quantum computer is a different story.
And even if the center became obsolete, that plenty of room for a DHS holding pen

There is one being built not far from us.

LoL... it's already 'Metered" like water and power.
One year ago, you could use Chat to your delight. Then, the free accounts were getting limited in their time of use.
Recently, Chat has moved to approximately 6 queries before you are put into a timeout penalty for several hours.
The others will follow, that's inevitable. I knew this years ago, but it's incredible impact on the world, with hundreds of millions of users - has caused this to come around sooner than I had hoped.
BTW, I would make it so Iran couldn't add two numbers together with online automation. It stuns me that the their people are without it, can't know that the US is decimating the regime, but it still took CIA 'misinformation' to keep misdirect enemy forces because the regime certainly gets their info from Russia, China and the US MSM.

I'm not signed up for anything like chat/facebook/instagram/X or anything else. Will they start charging internet usage above what service providers charge?

Louisianastan about to have electrical prices on par with California.
We don't. Trump needs to mandate this stuff stay behind the meter and it is paid for (construct co-gen, etc.) themselves. We are working on three Entergy power plants in that area and Western MS that more than likely will go to power these massive projects.
Consumers need to be very aware.
