Look up what those loans (key word there) were for.

One of the most absurd ideas to have been posted here.

And that is saying something.

But if someone feels they need to go onto welfare for a while, they have to agree to give up voting during that time

Would this include almost every farmer?

Excellent idea for the country, and therefore will never happen. It would wipe out the democratic base.

So I guess we can eliminate farmers and coal miners from the voting ranks.

Bring back poll tax, non- property owners lose voting rights, how about who differ from your political leanings?
a different religion?
Make the non-voters wear a star on their clothes so WE can avoid them

Don't go all hyperbolic.

We are talking about an objective standard that has nothing to do with race, color, creed, age, or property ownership status, or education.

None of the things you mentioned are at play here.

Yet we allow representatives to vote on pay raises or Judges to decide legality of programs that affect their pay.

What we need is a system of service oriented government with a term of "assimilation". Any and all government workers and elected politicians can only serve a maximum of 12 years, without any type of retirement plan whatsoever. This rule is effective for the next 60 years so citizens who wish to serve the people can serve the people and the population will assimilate to this form of government that was originally intended.

Only SCOTUS judges can serve as the US Constitution requires.

I would propose to phase in limits on benefits to prevent government assistance for life.
Everyone is subject to accidents.
Have a kid that you cannot support? OK, accidents happen....here is your various assistance, coupon for unlimited free condoms, and a book titled " The Taxpayer Teat Is Not A Way Of Life" to read and paper to sign acknowledging that you received and will read the book.

Have a second kid WHILE already receiving benefits for the first child that you could not support? Didn't you learn anything the first time? Didn't you use the free condoms? Didn't you read the book?
Second child you have the option to:
(1) Receive 50,% benefits for second child only after signing agreement/acknowledgement that any further children will result in zero additional benefits.
(2) Receive 100% benefits for second child only after you voluntarily get tubes tied.
Your body, your choice.

All American citizens should have the right to vote. Poor, middle class or rich. Our ancestors died so we could have this right. Stripping away someone's rights because they need help is insulting to those that died to give us those rights.

Now what should be done is government help should be a alloted to a certain amount of time while the recipient has to provide so many hours of community service.

Constitution aside, have them sign a waiver of constitutional rights if they want the benefits.
