ok

When they come out and say they will be short $52M over the next two years b/c of St. George, and then try to steal $56M from the library, i'm pretty sure St. George has everything to do with it.

It seems to me that having a consolidated city/parish government was always about the city domineering over the parish. With other cities forming like Central and St George the truth is being revealed.

A consolidated city/parish made a lot of sense when 85% of the parish population lived within city limits.

Now only approximately 50% of EBR residents live within the city.

Curious if City Hall is going to try to merge EBR Sheriff and BRPD next.

Glaring example of too many takers and not enough givers. The democrat solution of taxing the haves and giving to the havenots is unsustainable when the haves leave. With a good majority of the houses in north BR paying little to nothing in property taxes due to homestead exemption, most of that area has been carried by St. George.

Stop rewarding negative behavior with free shite and the negative behavior will stop. It will be rough initially, but the leaches will eventually move out to find another tit to suck on that is not BR and the none leaches will get a job and pay their way.

St George exposed the fact that the City/Parish form of government has been an abusive relationship.

Baton Rouge should have annexed St. George years ago but they didn’t because they wanted a majority black vote.

Then, it lied about ‘taxes going up’ for St. George when it was really the opposite.

FAFO. This is the result of that.

Maybe they should not have stolen money from the unincorporated areas?

Maybe they should not have hired so many people and fund them with money from unincorporated areas that they provided no service to?

Maybe they should have admitted that the city/parish government model is a failed model.

When my kids screw up they are punished. When politicians and voters screw up, and join Soros backed groups like Together Baton Rouge there are also punishments.

Take your punishment and fix the problem accurately and responsibly.

All St. George wanted was a school district, but the politicians chose thievery and corruption over responsible leadership.

This goes back to the city-parish form of government being outdated for EBR. The city of Baton Rouge has been surviving financially by using the money generated in the parish, but outside the city limits, to fund city services and projects.

And THRIVE was a continuation of this. Thank goodness people saw through the BS.

“gays raping and killing kids”
“human trafficking”
“AIDS capital”

Wait, are these issues especially prevalent in Baton Rouge? I was not aware.

Judge Parker might disagree. Right or wrong his decision caused a mass exodus.

Lafayette has the opposite problem, broke arse parish bums off city funds. All the other municipalities have their own mayor but Lafayette mayor has to also be parish president

it was bad before Katrina and stayed on its downward spiral - it would be where it is even if Katrina wouldn’t have happened

It may actually be worse than now if Katrina wouldn’t have saved neighborhoods like Broadmoor and Shenandoah.

The $53 million just thrown in a trash can to BK could’ve went a long way to cleaning up north Baton Rouge.

Good ol’ Houston. The city with the Chinese embassy in it that was shredding all the documents it could when COVID happened. That’s the most unique thing about Houston.

How about a massive tax reform.

Lower property taxes on BREC, the Library, MARC, COA, and CATs. This will save money for all property taxpayers parish wide.

Let BR vote on new taxes to fully fund BRPD, BRFD, public works, and other essential services.

Now I'm all about firing excess government employees, but for that to be a option this early in the game shows how bad things really are.

Problem is that SWB was supposed to budget properly once St G was incorporated, regardless of the court case, and she refused to do that because of the potential political consequences. So she kicked the can down the road and now the next guy is having to do drastic shite as a result.
