There isn’t enough market demand for EV without government subsidies and mandates.
The Rivian pickup truck’s starting price is around 75k; well equipped are 100k but you can get a slightly used one for much less due to the extremely low rating amongst owners.
In short, it’s a very high priced lemon.

Someone (Not Trump) should make a statement that the money is not available and will be clawed back if any given before the inauguration!
Whoever is the person for DOE should make that statement today!

This sounds like the Biden administration poking Elon to me. Elon decides to help cut govt waste, the administration gives billions to his rival

So the president just has the ability to shell out money, I didn’t realize it worked like that. It’s more like he’s a king.

In what world does it cost 7 billion dollars to build a car factory.

When Trump scraps EV mandates, who is going to buy them.
I’ve seen a few on the road. Cool looking vehicle.
If it wasn’t going to be extremely difficult to find someone to do repairs then I would look into it.

Remember Obama giving a shite ton of money to Solendra? Where are they now?
I sincerely hope Elon & Vivek remind everyone about shite like this, in the the first two weeks of April!

Those vehicles are ugly as frick. And I would not want an electric truck. Just don’t trust it.

They laundered for a coupla years then went belly up. On the bright side, the grifting was less expensive back then

Heavily promoted as a leader in the sustainable energy sector for its unusual technology, Solyndra was not able to compete with conventional solar panel manufacturers of crystalline silicon.[2] The company filed for bankruptcy on September 1, 2011

Our "too big to fail" corporations are damn near socialized now.
The natural tendency of large corporations is to become monopolies so they can charge anything price and pay any wage they wish. We used to have anti-trust laws to check this. But our govt seems to have lost interest in filing those charges because they get paid big bucks by corporations.

I think the innovations in battery tech will continue on to the point where we can have a vehicle with an honest 350 mile range that can be fully charged in 5 minutes.
If they can do that and are about the same price as a Petro vehicle, I would consider.

Funny, I was on the phone much of last week talking to the GC and some material suppliers after that “loan” was announced. Biden Feds are dead set on making that project happen. Rivian bailed out a few months ago because they didn’t have the funding.

Not sure what’s confusing?
I’d look into buying one because it’s a good looking vehicle if it likely wasn’t such a pain for maintenance etc.
I’d imagine it’s like trying to get someone to repair a rare import vehicle however with the added issue of it not being an internal combustion engine.
