As supposedly "entertaining" as I am to you, you guys' overreacting to try to take the gay-focus off yourselves to put it on me is much more telling. The panic is palpable.

What’s your argument for maintaining permanent alimony?

THIS^

I really want to hear the argument for it. My natural state is to be a Devil's advocate but I am at a loss here.

Well DeSantis earned more points in my book for this. Permanent Alimony is some serious BS.

Welcome aboard the Trump train. Your vote will be rewarded with prosperity when he wins bigly. Put Rob and your ex in the rear view mirror.

Murder rates of ex-wives are now bound to go down.

I knew a blue collar guy, machinist, whose life was a horror story over that bullshite. He made about half what I did and when he told me what his child support was I about choked on my coffee. I would have had a hard time paying it. The cherry on top was the ex-wife's boyfriend moved in to the house he was paying for, and all they had to do was not get married and the free ride continued. He was barely scraping by and she was using alimony for the boyfriend's Camaro.

It messed him up, he ended up on drugs, booze or both and I think eventually in jail.

Lol. Both my parents had careers and my sister and I came out just fine. We had great private educations. My mother is educated and a conservative. She isn't an uneducated piece of property. That's how so many uneducated "conservative" men think of women.

It should be fricking eliminated at 50/50.

My ex has our children 7 days a year more than I do (51/49) why should those 7 days cost me about $6,000 per day? Then add on top of that health, dental, and car insurance AND the premium on a special life insurance policy I have to carry and it all rolls up to closer to $7,000 a day.

There is no Justice in that. I get with the drop out dads, but for those of us who are in our kids’ lives we shouldn’t be punished because our ex decided to bail out and seek “happiness”.

Who said anything about not getting an education? My wife is conservative, got a degree from Georgia Tech, and we both wanted her to raise our children. She went to work later for a defense contractor but stayed home to raise them until they were teens. If that’s “dopey” to you you’re a dumbfrick.

Kind of like demorats wanting more gun laws for everyone else, because a punk shot up a liquor store. But they don't want to punish the punk.

The responses in this thread have restored my faith in the Poliboard.

Alimony is insane, the goal of it is “to maintain the standard of living established during the marriage”

But isn’t divorce a signal that you want to end the standard of living that was established during the marriage?

I'm convinced she's here to reverse psychology our asses into liking DeSantis. And I'm NOT a DeSantis guy.

See, you can't even respond without juvenile name calling. And it's certainly a poor decision to spend money on degrees that will barely be utilized. How degrading would it be to have to depend and ask permission to spend money? That goes for both men and women. No able-bodied adult of sound mine should put themselves in total dependency of someone else. It rarely ends well for the person in such a position. Hell, my sister had a friend that earned more money than her husband and he still made her ask permission to spend money. A man that is sure of himself doesn't need to treat their spouse like a child or worse. You're being very defensive and so that's quite telling of the sort of man you are.
