A million isn't really that much money. Ten OTR trucks are way too much of a liability risk if you aren't stacking money.

I don't get the investment at all.
One fatal accident and Morgan and Morgan and Ultima Morgan ends them.

Lovely, I-45 will retain its title as Most Deadly Highway in the US

I wonder who is at fault if they get into an accident?
Too many substandard conditions. Too much environmental alteration for too many varying reasons - road/construction/repair, weather, sudden erratic changes that would impact OTHER previously uninvolved traffic, mechanical malfunctioning by the vehicles and outside the vehicles
Needs to be outlawed though I think that I have already seen it throughout the south.
I know - we can get a shiteton of DEI ground traffic controllers.

Or when they cut me off in the fast lane so they can pass up another truck driving 1 mph slower.
It's the other way around. Phoenix area has been the development market for google's Waymo driverless taxi service and around the airport, they are a godsend. You can cut them off to take their place in line and they're programmed to let you in, and of course there's nobody to pull a gun a shoot you for it.

Insurance is a MF, I had 42 at one time some 15 years ago. Always had an open lawsuit on my desk. That doesn’t even begin to describe the troubles

45 will never be the same....

Wonder how they'll handle windy days.

I wonder what it does when it gets there. Does a driver get in and back it into the loading dock?
The trials I've seen have had the truck exit Interstates and highways at pre-staged, [and created] equivalents of wait-parking lots for large airports. These are often on the outskirts of large cities where truck drivers are ferried back and forth to being them in and out.

I was on that interstate between Houston and Dallas about a year ago. 3 lanes going 82 mph. Couldn't leave a even 2 car links between me and the car in front of me. Everytime I did someone switched lanes into that space. I almost ended up back in Houston where I started it happened so often.

Can you imagine the overload cheats, if weigh station checkpoints are waved?

This is why TX is such an overrated state

this would be perfect for being on the road between 10PM and 5AM... ever see how many 18 wheelers are parked alongside the road and at truck stops during those hours?
Not that you said otherwise, but drivers are required to rest for so many hours after driving for so many hours. They have to keep logs. Its a good safety measure.
I guess these driverless trucks will be allowed to drive longer hours since rest isn’t an issue, only recharging.

When these people building driverless trucks find out the truck might not be able to actually pull up to the loading dock they are definitely going to feel really stupid, right?
They are probably going to just give up on the whole idea because there isn’t any possible solution for that.

I have a feeling that like a tesla, a driver will be in the cabin although not actually driving.
From a practical standpoint, I think the loss ratio will be less with computer error less than human error especially fatalities.
I agree with the poster above. Run them 10pm to 5 am and get freight moving.

The cost of trucking insurance is absolutely insane.
Also, I wish I could upload my video of the last truck accident handled by Morgan...POS lady at light pulls from right lane into middle lane but only front half of vehicle. Completely blind to see from driver seat and light changes green and vehicle never moves for 5 seconds as tractor moves slowly ahead and hits it.
I think its fraud.
