Capitalism requires you sell a product and if people don't want it and you don't adjust, there are consequences.

Do they understand that no one, and I mean no one is buying their content? Do they understand why this matters? Have they reflected for even a minute on why people are no longer willing to pay for what they put out. The answer to all these questions is “no.”

In this case it was just a simple dollars and cents thing. Seems the biggest cuts were to foreign correspondents and sports...both likely having huge travel budgets. It's a very logical place to make cuts.

Traditional media has been the slowest to adapt to changes in the way people consume news and operated under the flawed assumption that people tune in for their opinions on issues.
