Since yesterday's deadly shooting in MN, I've talked to more than half a dozen federal sources involved immigration enforcement, including several in senior positions, who all tell me they have grown increasingly uneasy & frustrated w/ some of the claims & narratives DHS pushed in the aftermath of the shooting.

Specifically, I'm told there is extreme frustration with DHS officials going on TV and putting out statements claiming that Alex Pretti was intending to conduct a "massacre" of federal agents or wanted to carry out "maximum damage", even after numerous videos appeared to show those claims were inaccurate. While they say it was a terrible decision to show up with a gun and inject himself into a federal law enforcement operation, there is no indication Pretti was there to murder law enforcement, as videos appear to show he never drew his holstered firearm.

These sources say this messaging from DHS officials has been catastrophic from a PR and morale perspective, as it is eroding trust and credibility - comparing it to when Democrats falsely claimed the border was closed or that Haitians were being whipped at the border.

Some of these sources have described DHS’ response to the shooting as “a case study on how not to do crisis PR”, one said they are so “fed up” that they wish they could retire, another said “DHS is making the situation worse”, and another added that “DHS is wrong” and “we are losing this war, we are losing the base and the narrative."

These sources all believe this is going to end up being what they call a “bad shoot”, a “shitty” situation that happened in seconds where agents likely heard “gun!”, then the disarmed firearm may have had an accidental discharge that spooked the agents, and they shot. The agents do not have the luxury of multiple slow motion angles - and had to make split second decisions.

All of the sources support the mass deportation agenda, but have serious hesitations about the way it is being carried out and the messaging that comes with it. Many of the sources have expressed frustration that ICE is routinely blamed for the actions of Border Patrol, a completely separate agency.

Pulling off taxpayer fraud of that magnitude pretty much requires citizenship, or at least legal residency.

I've tried to explain this to people hyper-focused on the Somali fraud stuff, conflating it with the ICE operation.

The Somali stuff was never even directly related to this immigration stuff

An insane % of Somalis in MN are citizens, and the vast majority of the rest are here legally.

I'm just curious, how do you poll the Somali's here illegally?

ETA: I agree, its impressive that 91% of Somali's that are asked say they are here legally

The American political class will send its military thousands of miles away to defend the borders of third-world hellholes but won't do shite here to defend our own.

When they do return the tactic should be to go for more of an approach where they only strike on certain days/times that ensure the best chance of success.

I'd like to see something like the blitz Trump put on during his first few months in office. Use the element of surprise, focus like you're saying, then move to another area right as the protest gets rolling. Keep it up with cities all over the nation.

So much of the protesting seems coordinated/inorganic, so this would force them to play whack a mole instead of parking it for weeks like we've seen in MN. And with the additional billions approved for ICE, they will be able to spread further without getting too thin

Even if you wanted to try to revoke the citizenship of those who were naturalized, that's going to start with an FBI investigation and not ICE

Keep coping. Trump caved. Walz won.

I just cannot fathom the level of delusion one must sink to in order to believe this could be true.

Leavitt explained it at her presser. She said Trump told Walz he would remove Border Patrol (not ICE) if Walz agreed to the following:

1) Turn over all illegals who are currently incarcerated in MN jails.

2) Agree to turn over any illegals who come into contact with MN police in the future.

3) Instruct MN Police to support ICE operations.

If these conditions are not met, there is no deal.

Sounds fair to me.

These are completely reasonable. Walz just might agree to it.

They already have 3,000+ ICE agents in the area, what's a few more from the bottom of the barrel gonna do?

This is all predicated on greater cooperation with local police so in reality this is a big win for Trump since it should increase deportations while decreasing protest related violence.

Apparently no one listened to the WH briefing today. The panicans can't help themselves.
