Also, the primary theory I buy stock into, does not prove that we will necessarily see the core/mantle decouple in our lifetimes.

Well, that's mighty convenient...

Correct. The west coast will be freezing cold. As we move northeast, the warmth will be more and more tolerable.

Unless this theory is that the rotation of Earth and its angle to the Sun are about to shift in this fashion (as well as the orbital path around the Sun) then this is some of the dumbest shite I have ever read.

Archaeology huh. What’s that got to do with polar shift

You do know that the physical rotation of the earth doesn't depend at all on the direction of the magnetic North Pole - right?? At least no more than the rotation of the wheels on your car depends on what tune is playin on your radio.

So the Mayans and that Hancock loon just missed the apocalypse by 14 years, I guess.

I would love to see people propose my plan with a straight face…We got to drill into the mantle and put rods to hold it all in place…Maybe not, half the country would probably by it.

What the OP is talking about is not sci fi. It has happened many many times in the past.

If this would happen today all at once it would be horrific on a biblical scale.

The issue I have with it is not that it is going to happen but the speed. The earth is heavy and I doubt the shift will happen supper fast.

Super fast is relative. By that I mean it isn't going to cause tidal waves and extinction of coastal species over night.

My contention is that something that happens as frequently as ever 12 to 20K years isn't something that causes mass extinction events like the dinosaurs.

Big potentially / probably yes. Destroy MODERN civilization, at least a big setback if not stone age again. Change in weather... absolutely. as dramatic as some or predicting.. no... why because we have hominids living in many continents for many thousands of years.

Can you summarize this is a short paragraph and put it on a 6th grade level?

Thanks, Chat
quote:

The writer says that Earth’s North Pole is moving much faster than it used to and may be speeding up quickly. They claim the normal forces that kept the pole stable are no longer working, and recent data shows sharp increases in how fast the pole is drifting. If this trend keeps going, they believe the movement could grow very fast by mid-2026 and become hard to control or change direction. However, they also note this conclusion is based on only one month of data, so the next few months—especially January—are very important.

If this kind of pole movement really happened, the main impacts would likely be technical, not catastrophic. Systems like GPS, satellites, maps, and space tracking would need more frequent updates to stay accurate. Some climate and weather patterns could slowly shift over time, but it would not cause sudden disasters. It would not directly trigger earthquakes, volcanoes, or the planet tipping over. Scientists would mostly see it as a serious issue to monitor and adjust for, rather than an immediate danger to everyday life.

Au contraire, it's never happened, and there are reasons for that.

I enjoy alternative “science” as much as the next guy but when your source tries to use the pyramids as evidence of wave erosion he’s getting out on a limb.

I do think it’s odd however that the last ice age centered more on North American northern latitudes than say in Siberia. I also think that the signs of catastrophic damage worldwide round 10,000 BC and the end of the ice age are better explained by the younger dryas impact theory.

Haha I was laughing at the absurdity of the OP until I realized Trump seemed really intentional about purchasing Greenland.

If we eventually take it by force, I’ll buy property there so that I can have a good spot on the new equator.

Ethical skeptic is a clown

After COVID he had all these projections and fancy graphs showing how there would be a global famine and millions would die.

Nothing happened.

The magnetic alignment that occurs when magma solidifies depends on the magnetic field. The Atlantic Oceans mid altantic rift is a record of the magnetic field. The record shows that the magnetic poles that always wander have flipped before.

True…but this is a different than the planet shifting its rotational axis or global crust displacement.
