Incompetent or Crooked- Trump not letting up

Trump threw his latest punch at Powell after being asked whether the unprecedented action undermines confidence in the Fed, which has long enjoyed independence from the executive branch.
“He’s billions of dollars over budget,” Trump said, apparently referencing costs related to a multibillion-dollar renovation of the Fed’s Washington headquarters, which is at the center of DOJ’s probe.
“So, he either is incompetent or he’s crooked,” Trump said. “I don’t know what he is. But he does a – certainly he doesn’t do a very good job.”
Trump’s comments to reporters outside the White House came as bipartisan criticism of the investigation, and support for the Fed’s independence, continues to grow.

Whatever issues Trump may have, large scale renovation/construction is an area where he has deep expertise and probably a forensic knowledge (for, ahem, whatever reason) of fraud. That he's choosing this front with Powell is probably causing some serious puckering on the part of Powell et al.

I bet this makes Minnesota look like an afterthought when the truth comes out.

So, Trump thinks that the Chairman of the Fed is acting as the GC on a building renovation?

Who is the end approver of the continued spending? When the budget goes over, they have to come back and ask for more money. At the end of the day, JPow is the final approver of spending, at the cost of the US taxpayer

A high school classmate in Lake Chuck took his father's industrial contracting company into renovating post offices. The money is in the extra work orders because existing facilities were not like the drawings presented in the specs.

If it were actual Fraud, Trump would pardon him. He loves him some rich fraudsters.
This will end up as nothing, Powell's term will end (appointed by Trump) and Trump will put in some idiot who just puts rates at zero. The key message here is if Trump doesn't like you, you will be investigaed by the DOJ. What we've learned so far is the DOJ is exceedingly bad at this, mostly because courts don't care how Trump feels about the target.
The Fed has been an amazing success story since the Chicago School was put in power by Carter. But sure, we need a Trump crony, great idea. I'm not up on the latest R talking points, tho, the Fed is probably bad and we need to be on the gold standard.

The MSM is "programming" Americans to believe support for the FED is growing when almost all Americans have not ever heard of the Fed.
However, support to weed out incompetence or fraud is at an all time high!!
'Frig the FED!!

Jerome Powell's Federal Reserve renovation went over budget due to unforeseen issues like more asbestos, soil contamination, and a higher water table than expected, plus general inflation and increased material/labor costs, compounded by a massive, complex, nearly century-old building needing extensive upgrades, leading to a $2.5 billion project budget overrun from original estimates.
Key Reasons for Overruns:
Unforeseen Conditions: Discovery of significant amounts of hazardous materials (asbestos, lead) and contaminated soil, plus a higher-than-anticipated water table, required costly remediation.
Inflation & Material Costs: Broad inflation and tariffs increased the price of necessary materials and equipment significantly since initial estimates from 2018-2019.
Age of Buildings: The Federal Reserve's historic headquarters (built in the 1930s) needed comprehensive modernization, including accessibility upgrades and safety compliance, which is inherently complex and expensive.
Project Scope: The project involves expanding and modernizing two large, old buildings, a massive undertaking requiring extensive work on their core structure, not just cosmetic updates.
I guess trump is too stupid to understand what can happen when working with an old building. Asbestos removal alone is a huge expense. If the dumbass dementia ridden fool didn’t feel like Powell was capable he shouldn’t have appointed him.
It’s like him criticizing the old trade agreement when he doesn’t realize he’s the one who created it. His mind is gone and he should be gone as well before he completely destroys the country.

Then the Fed should ACT independent and not partisan.

Donald Trump the real estate investor and builder knows far more than Powell about renovating old buildings. What's stupid is you posting that the President doesn't understand the business he's been in his entire life. Basically, quit crying with your nonsense.

Do the renovation costs come from the taxpayer? I keep seeing people say the taxpayer does not "directly" pay for the renovations. I am not sure what that means: either we pay for it or we do not.

I doubt it, whiny baby doesn't hear what he wants, then shoots the messenger.
How about work on the economy and things will work out for him.

Right on. Trump renovated an entire 18 hole golf course and country club in Ireland for less than $100 million. Over 3 billion for an office building is 30 times that. Plus he pointed out to Powell that he put office space in a basement which was not necessary as he could have added a other floor for 10% of basement construction cost. Powell is a politician and bureaucrat that knows zero about construction.
