Goodbye Atlanta.

I left two years ago and haven't looked back. Seems that was a wise decision.

Only thing I miss is the selection of restaurants. Don't even miss my friends; they are all (for the most part) unrecognizable mask nazis full of hate now.

It’s not “want” to. It’s “have” to. If someone breaks down your door, you MUST assume they mean harm to you and your family.

It is the MAN’S duty to protect his family. Not want. Not maybe. It IS.

You don’t buy a weapon to WANT to use it for anything else beside a fun day at the range. You don’t train to WANT to hurt anyone. You train in case you HAVE to use it.

Weapons aren’t bought to settle disputes. They aren’t bought to scare anyone. They aren’t bought to provoke nor persuade anyone. They are bought for recreation at a place to lawfully shoot with yourself and/or a group and for protection only when your are threatened with grave injury.

Perhaps an isolated small town or another country altogether.

I’m in small town South Georgia. Town has 5k, the county is large geographically and only has 19k. Of the 6 counties that border us, 5 are even smaller than us. I say that to illustrate how rural it is. I live on a 27 acre pond about a mile off the road. It’s not bad, it’s not utopia either. Have to travel for everything (medical specialist, ball lessons, travel teams, box restaurants, movies, etc etc) Gnats and skeeters are bad 2/3 of the year. Friendly people and no traffic. Can walk to my deer stand in 5 minutes.

It’s all a trade off I guess.

I'm just saying, this should never happen to anyone! Your friend should have known long ago that the police don't prevent crime, they just solve crimes. He should have had some heat ready to protect his family long before this. I pray for you and your friend.
My wife and I both: one finger on the biometric scanner, and we are armed. Takes just a couple seconds if that.

baw county as in Fayette County? What suburb did you live in? I was born and raised in Germantown, and my parents still live there. Germantown is still red as hell and doesn't have to deal with Memphis property taxes. It also doesn't have any crime issues like Memphis does. Germantown has its own mayor, its own school system, and doesn't even vote for the same state reps or US reps Memphis residents do.

Depends on where you live.

If you choose to live in a blue shithole you are probably right.

Come and make Bremen your home Lucky. It is everything you want in a small town. Great schools and right off of I-20. You can buy a house for $400k that would cost you $2m or more in Midtown and $650k in Woodstock. I have 4200sf house on 1.5 acres in a nice S/D. If you don’t work East of the city, the commute isn’t bad from out here. Man, it’s nice to hit the hometown every day after being in the city. It is actually faster commute because of less congestion to Bremen than to Woodstock or Canton.

And you have Carrollton within 15-20 minutes for a nice choice of restaurants and a nice square and amphitheater.

That wasn't your house with the stone LSU in the driveway off of Westbrook by chance, was it? Guess that had to be removed in order for them to sell the house, just solid stone now.

Been in Desoto County, I always liken Germantown to this, "Its walking distance to the hood. If they can walk to my neighborhood I'm to damn close, I dont care how nice it is."

Were moving out of the area completely.

It's crazy, Atlanta really went from arguably it's peak in like 2016-2019 to a major fall off last year.

We moved out of the city in October (just barely). But we have almost zero crime now. Mainly because we previously had thousands and thousands of people driving by our house on a daily basis and now I probably have 100 and they're all neighbors. Makes a huge difference when it comes to the crime of opportunity that plagues Atlanta and is largely perpetrated by violent minors.

Our breaking point is when there was a planned protest down the street and my wife started asking if we should take down the American flag to being a target.

it's a pretty long fricking walk, as in it would take half a day's walk to get to "the hood" from Germantown

Desoto County, MS is just as close a walk to the hood as Germantown, probably closer honestly unless you're moving to the southern border of Desoto. If you're moving to Southhaven, you're not really any further away from all that and stone's throw away from Whitehaven

That’s the problem with a lot of gentrified neighborhoods. The hood is just within a few blocks. The criminals are pretty smart. They know most of the people moving in are well to do, liberal and most likely not owning a gun which leads to car brake ins to outright home invasions. Just ask anyone in the west loop area of Chicago, along Woodward ave in Detroit or the Temple University area of Philadelphia.

Woodstock is what Roswell was 30 years ago.

Can’t blame you one bit and with what your Highland area home sold for you can get a Big Bang for your buck in Woodstock.

Or, you could buy Bremen outright...
