Musk of all people should recognize an opportunity to turn a corner when he sees one. Right...?

My son was studying in Graz in the late 90's at Uni Graz. He loved Croatia even then. If you were not at the front there was no danger.
I was sent to Sarajevo, Bosnia in April, 1996 as part of the technical assistance agreement in the Dayton Accord.
Except for a lot of remaining damage from artillery it was totally peaceful there except for the occasional detonation of landmines in the hills surrounding Sarajevo by the mine removal corps.
It took me a couple of days to get accustomed to that...
I also spent some time in Zagreb and Split, Croatia while I was there.

Split is where wet salted cattle hides were shipped to from Amarillo via Port of Houston in the early 1980's by the shipload, 10,000 tons at a time.
Thanks for the education on the lay of the land for that time period. All I knew back then is that fighting was still ongoing. They spent a weekend camping on the island Rab. He enjoyed traveling in former Eastern Bloc nations as everything was super inexpensive.

I saw post late yesterday on X that they were addressing this. Russia had found a work around and they were fixing it. It's not like Starlink terminals are hard to find and smuggle

Waves breaking over the deck shouldn't be flooding covered and secured cargo holds at all. Even the old Greek mini ships which used planks covered by cotton tarps kept grain dry back in their heyday of the 70's and 80's.

Russia’s forces advance slower than any army in the past century
Russia’s army is advancing in Ukraine at the slowest pace seen in more than 100 years of warfare, new analysis shows.
Vladimir Putin’s forces have advanced between 15 and 70 metres per day since early 2024, slower than many campaigns during the First World War, according to a report from the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Western intelligence believes Russia has also sustained more than 1.2 million casualties since the war began four years ago.

Is the question whether or not they are competent? This basic, simple question has been asked before about the Russians and their allies and answered in the negative.

There was a Greek captain and engineer, everyone else was from a shithole nation on these and forced to stay longer than signed up for. A crew of 6.
Ghana, Senegal, etc... 2 cargo holds 2 hatches. They would sail to shithole places and had a shallow draft so even up most rivers if needed. 2,000 ton capacity only. With grain they could serve 2 or 3 small Caribbean islands on a voyage after loading bulk grain in Louisiana.
I am thinking that it's not waves which are the issue, maybe a hole in the hull

They've lost influence in Syria completely despite the new leader traveling to Moscow.
Iran seems to be about to go Bye Bye.
Venezuela GONE
Cuba about to be GONE.
ALL Central Asian countries have partially separated their alliance from Russia, two have completely.
The Panda Bear had the Russian Bear bent over and begging for more. The Panda keeps putting it to the Russian Bear.
A succession crisis in Chechnya's leadership will likely lead to that powder keg blowing up in Putin's face.
While a Russian attack could take much if not all of Estonia, it cannot hold it after NATO reinforcements arrive.
As far as Russian holding on to part of Ukraine, that is questionable if Putin is deposed and troops have no desire in the fight. China took Vietnamese territory decades ago, but had to withdraw with its tail between its legs.

Don't point that out to anyone. I'm too busy looking at maps that show the advance of a few meters a day in a region Russia has managed to control 90% of when they had control over 90% of it three years ago. They've made no major gains - none, nada - in three years but, hey, let's all hold our breaths waiting for the Russians to get their act together.
But Stubb, Finland's President, points to the problem when he points out that Europe is still asking if it can defend itself. Of course Europe can defend itself, only a fool (or someone facing a possible major war) would worry otherwise. Russia's military is a joke and the information, maps, stats, and any qualified expert all point to it, while Europe is loaded with modern military powers who aren't currently getting their own teeth kicked in at the moment.
But the Kremlin is the best in the world at psychological warfare and disinformation - it's the one place it's KGB past comes to help it. And they've convinced people they are invincible when they can't even take back their own towns without help. The Ukrainians counterattacked and took the Russian town of Kursk and held it for 6 months while the Russians screwed around and achieved nothing until the Trump administration cut weapons and information to the Ukrainians and the Z bitches FINALLY managed to take it back.
Until people realize just how incompetent and stupid, how utterly worthless the Russian conventional military is and how much we've all been duped by Russian propaganda this war is going to continue on with countless pointless deaths while people spend years predicting the fall of the Donbas, a strategically unimportant aspect to this conflict.

Like I stated, they cannot hold territory taken if NATO responds.
We are not certain that their ballistic nukes can even leave Russia airspace. Solid rocket fuel had to be replaced every so often, and liquid fueled needs to be kept in cryogenic state. Russia lacks the capability to do either except at central locations and having to physically bring the missiles to them.
PLUS, their nukes are armed before launch as they lack the ability to arm them after launch. So old fuel could mean nuking Russian soil even in silos.

Some youtube couple came up for me a while ago who've been living all over that coastal region for 6 months at a time and making vids about the economics and processes for Americans retiring there, along with sightseeing... they manage to make them all seem very appealing.

Meanwhile, Russia has lost more casualties than any country in any war since World War II:

Russia has another two fighters shot down, one by an American Patriot system. The planes lost are reported to be a SU-34 and a SU-30. These tend to be the fighters the Russians are relying on to bomb the civilians of Ukraine:
