Admittedly the Johnson/Weld ticket of 2016 was a rather weak representation of Libertarian leadership.

They set the party back. Weld may as well have been on the Hillary campaign team

I think they need to get enough votes in 2020 to get full ballot equality and debate inclusion in 2024. Peterson will end up being the 2024 candidate IMO.

They were also the most qualified ticket. I identify as a Libertarian, and as a native Kentuckian I love Rand Paul, but he needs to go Libertarian or go home.

He was a far better candidate than Hillary or Trump but he doesn't appeal to the average voter because he makes drawn out responses rather than sound bytes. As a moderate who leans to the right on fiscal issues and the left on social issues but just really wants the government to stay out of our lives, I wish that he would stop cowtowing with Mitch McConnell. Do you. Go against what you believe to be unconstitutional. Just stop toeing the line.

So if enough people leave the GOP you think they wont win?

Youre betting on the fact that people are too afraid to think foe themselves.

Is this naked guy on the Libertarian stage really any worse than Sarah Silverman/Lena Dunham on the DNC stage or Willie Robertson/Scott Baio on the RNC stage?

I like Rand Paul but I can see where his pedantic style which many regard as pseudo-intellectual can turn voters off

I sleep well at night knowing that the shitshow isn't my fault. If personal liberties and fiscal conservatism are your political priorities, then the Libertarian Party is for you. Neither the Rs or Ds give a shite about either of those things.

An organization of people that believe in putting the individual first...I do foresee any problems there!

I have thought of switching to the Libertarian party many times. But as an organization they are a mess and it almost seems logically impossible for it to be any other way.

I think the party's greatest value is it's influence on the GOP. I don't see a purely libertarian candidate winning in the near future, but I see young conservatives preferring libertarian social views to the outdated, traditional, religious-based views of old, that really aren't conservative in the first place. I also see the libertarian party helping to thin the Republican herd of big government phonies.

I like libertarians. I just see it more as an ideology that works in a vacuum but not in reality. It needs a little tailoring.

For reference, I'm registered as an independent, and I MAGA'd this election.

Unfortunately that's the extremely low risk bet. Just look at all the big government loving right wingers, and the small government loving leftists who decided to switch sides when power changed.

It was like watching the end of the first or third quarter of a football game with the ball near the goal line. They just switched from one exteme to the other.

Sounds more like that would be the Nihilist Party.

I don't think they will ever amount to anything. They ran freaking Gary Johnson as their standard bearer last year.

Then there was this gem at their national convention:

I guess some just think it is edgy and cool to say they are Libertarian. I think that party is a complete joke. But, that is just my opinion. People in this country are free to align themselves with the party of their choice.

What? It's never been "cool" to be libertarian. People are terrified of liberty.
