We certainly don’t need an interpretation from a Marxist pedo-enabler.

What in the law makes her appointment illegal?

I know we don’t see eye to eye and that’s fine. But the problem I see with your point is that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to separate your issues with “the machine” vs your issues with “adhering to the constitution”.

Trump legally can’t appoint someone on an interim basis to this post.

Funny...

USAs are executive branch
District court judges are judicial branch

Pretty sure the Congress cannot confer executive authority to appoint executive branch officials to a different branch of government by statute

You’re pretending that this is solely Trump’s issue. The Constitution doesn’t give a blank check to the Senate in advise and consent. We have had multiple interims in this position because the Senate will not approve his appointments. Until you acknowledge that, you sound retarded.

Just keep rotating interims in there.

Let others be the ones to really direct action behind the scenes.

Our senate fixed this too, a court ruled by trial in 2025 you cant do this.

The senate with blue slips ensures congress remains a quagmire by design.

But lets blame Bondi, she doesnt do anything. No its our dipshit senators and congressmen like Massie trying to get hookers to out the president under the pretense she was some innocent minor.

There are two laws involved. One was that she hadn't been an employee of the DOJ for at least a specified time period (90 days). The other is murky: can the President appoint successive interim US Attorneys or after the first one's term expires or are the District Judges (of that District) the only appointing authority? I THINK that's being litigated elsewhere.

First order of business is to acknowledge that Halligan had no qualifications for the position.

First order of business is to acknowledge that this door only swings one way. We have a borderline retard serving on SCOTUS.

I get what you are saying, seems like editorializing. So I agree that editorializing is unnecessary in a pure news article.

It's fair to report her lack of qualifications. AP already did that in this article:

"Trump tapped Halligan, a White House aide who had served as his personal lawyer but had no prior experience as a federal prosecutor, to lead one of the Justice Department’s most important and prestigious offices."

Don't you think it was unnecessary to refer to her as an "ally?" That implies that Trump is doing something novel and nefarious that other Presidents haven't done because they're more ethical than Orange Tyrant. It just shows that AP can't be trusted as a neutral source (duh).

Thune is responsible for only 15 of Trump's 90+ US Attorney's being appointed. He stands in the way of the US AG office from getting the lawyers needed to prosecute crime such as what we are seeing in Minnesota, or the Comey and Letitia James crap.

You do understand that political parties evolve with the times, right? Do you think the Democrats are still the same party basically created to support Andrew Jackson?

Not when this thread is about Lindsey Halligan. And yet nobody wants to discuss Halligan.

You can nitpick at the SCOTUS, for good measure. It’s highly political, and multiple Justices have warts. But there was a confirmation process there.

Yeah it’s unnecessary to label her an “ally”.

But again, the AP is not the story here…

I wouldn’t even grant that it’s unnecessary to call her an ally. A US Attorney is meant to serve the people of the United States, her qualifications are…she was an insurance lawyer who worked for Trump personally? Why would he even appoint someone like that to such an important post? Because he wants her to do exactly as she is told.

I don’t disagree, but I think that he also recognizes that these positions are currently a revolving door because of the refusal to approve his appointments.

So what’s the confirmation process for Trump’s appointees?

Keep dancing, bitch.
