I think this country is starting to realize the consequences of giving in to the Lib/progressive demands.
Nope. The media and politicians have been giving in to the liberal crap even more. Maybe they'll finally realize the consequences after they lose more Congressional seats next year because they're more worried about pandering to the extreme far left than taking care of the moderate working class dem voters

"sourcewatch.com" regards chronicle.com as a leftwing org.
Shocked that someone would think the chronicle of higher education is left wing.
Doesn't mean its facts are wrong - there's more to the story than what you're being fed about a protest backlash.

How is tOSU doing? Their response should be the gold standard.

I know a family who has taken two students from Mizzou. Truth be told, was pretty shocked to hear that they did so as one had already completed a full calendar year there.

The WSJ is a far more reputable source than a site that has "how right wing billionaires are hijacking campuses" as its headline story.

I read that this morning while I was on the crapper. Serves Mizzou right.

The enrollment decline is predominantly driven by smaller HS senior graduate class sizes in the state of MO.

That is what they get for caving to that stupidity a couple years ago

There is a leftleaning poster on here, 5thTiger, who says the decline in enrollment is due to budget cuts and not to this.
Well considering enrollment was dropping the year or two prior to Eric Greitens
The leftists want enrollment to drop and spend MORE money on higher education. Which is not surprising.

Yeah no way. That's bigger than the Katrina drop in New Orleans itself.

The one kid from college I know who devotedly reads the higher ed chronicle and tweets about their shite is an avowed communist. No lie.

Tl;dr version: The University of Alabama's state funding was cut by more than 28% from 2008 to 2014, in nominal dollars. At the same time, their enrollment increased by 33.6%.
Maybe there's something else affecting enrollment at Mizzou besides budget cutting by the state.

I could care less about the peolple involved that got punished. I feel bad for the people that had nothing to do with it that are now facing the consequences of others' actions.

That's not a refutation. The dynamics surrounding enrollment are different at Auburn (and VERY different at Alabama with their out of state push in the last decade) than they are at Mizzou.

Mizzou was not a good choice for the SEC. The SEC should be only states that are Southern. I would say the 11 states of the CSA are Southern. Even though FL and TX have become non-Southern they still have that historical tie and they care about football in those states. I would even tell UK to leave for the ACC or Big Ten. So boot Mizzou, A&M, and UK and add Florida State, VA Tech and NC State. UK doesn't care about football and A&M doesn't belong.

As classes begin this week, freshmen enrollment is down 35% since the protests, according to the latest numbers the university has publicly released. Mizzou is beginning the year with the smallest incoming class since 1999. Overall enrollment is down by more than 2,000 students, to 33,200. The campus has taken seven dormitories out of service.
Serious Question: They have some graduate programs I am interested in. Do you think now is a good time to enroll.

Neither AU nor UA were embroiled in a highly public controversy resulting in violent disruption of classes during that period.
But the fact remains, blaming a reduction in funding for the majority of of the decline in Mizzou enrollment figures is somewhat specious.

Well, shite. I'd like to post a mea culpa on this one. From the Columbia (Missouri) Tribune in May of this year:
Link
quote:
The university has studied the issue and now sees that it is almost all due to negative publicity since the demonstrations, said Pelema Morrice, vice provost for enrollment.
“It is clear from what we learned thus far that the vast majority of our undergraduate enrollment concerns are closely tied to our public perception issues throughout the state and throughout the country,” he said.
If the VP of enrollment is saying that publicly...can't argue with that.
