What specific actions has De Vos taken that are “ruining the Dept. of Education”?

poor over sight over student debt?

I just read a story that many veterans are getting screwed
e.g.,
"more than 70% of applications have been denied due to student loan borrowers not meeting the program requirements. For example, borrowers did not have eligible student loans, make 120 qualifying payments or have qualifying employment."

Not only should he fire her, he should completely shudder the DOE.

Why would he fire her? She's ruining the Dept of Education, just like he intended. Trumpism runs on stupidity.
Please enlighten us on why we should even have a Federal Department of Education?

Devos is not to blame. Students that choose to parlay their career or pick dumb arse majors that serve no purpose to humanity are. frick them. I hope they are stuck paying their Liberal Politics of Feminism Aggression major degree for the rest of their lives. I’m sure Huffpo, CNN, and WaPo will lend their white papers credit from time to time. Other than that there is zero revenue that it will produce.

This. Fed has no power or authority to meddle in State education.

Why did we allow the department of education to take on student debt in 2010 under Obama?
What do you mean "we" kemosabi?
Everything that slimy, life long, anti American communist Obama touched turned to shiit. Don't you agree??

quote:That's true. So, here's an article from the Daily Press about the veterans issue regarding for-profit college student debt.
The article you linked has nothing to do with the alleged premise of your post.
quote:
Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of student veterans, despite having robust GI Bill education benefits, contend they were deceived into racking up federal loan debt through abusive practices of certain for-profit colleges. On Tuesday these students, along with thousands of non-veterans, gained an easier path to loan forgiveness from a federal court ruling in Washington, D.C. U.S. District Judge Randolph D. Moss dismissed legal arguments from an association of for-profit colleges, which succeeded for more than a year to block Obama administration rules to bring financial relief to defrauded student borrowers and to strengthen federal protections against deceptive school practices. The Trump administration’s Department of Education also had fought the Obama reforms until a month ago when the same judge rejected legal arguments from Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Trump administration attorneys.

Trump should give her a bonus. The Dept. of Ed. should be ended. Hopefully the student loan debacle will fast-track that.
Devos is doing what needs to be done!

That issue has nothing to do with veterans. They highlight the story of a veteran who has a claim for fraud against DeVry but it really has noting to do with his status as a Veteran.

Ditch the DoE.

Is Betsy Devos signing up students without their knowledge?
How’s this for a start for student loan reform. Zero student loan funds for any subject outside of STEM.
The functionally retarded people who run up a 100k student loan debt in ________ studies is what the crises is.

Who pays for this if approved? What’s the burden of proof? Do the schools in question that mislead the students have to refund the tuition to whoever ends up paying the amount? Do they get penalized somehow?
Did law actually give the President the power to make the rules Obama made here? Regardless Nothing like pushing off a feel good rule for next person to deal with the actual expense.
I agree with protecting tax payer from automatic forgiveness and reforming process and actual law in a way that holds the education institutions and the banking institutions accountable for pushing bad loans or a crappy education as well as the students for signing up for it. Sure interests rates will have to go up and the amount of money available to loan will shrink, but the process needs to be more selective on the quality of the education institutions, the students, and the annual $ amounts involved in loan anyway. Not being selective and not having the schools or the banks have a little risk or accountability in these loans even though they have employees helping students apply for them has greatly inflated education costs. Louisiana is full of colleges using this (and other programs automatically paying full tuition or even a % regardless of increases or value including the free tuition program that was initially for lower income but got expanded) to make up for funding cuts and additional spending they want without having to make sure new tuition is worth it and competitive. I am sure this happens in other states across the country as well.

Obama officials released their final regulations in November 2016. They were to take effect the following July but the California Association of Postsecondary Schools filed a lawsuit to block them. A supportive DeVos quickly announced that she would block the Obama rules and prepare new ones to reflect concerns of for-profit schools and to protect taxpayers from automatic forgiveness of billions of dollars in federal student loans associated with failed for-profit colleges.

Can you explain this? I read the article, but do not see this mentioned. Active duty and haven't heard or read any complaints in the area so curious.
Also this student loan forgiveness idea is ignorant. No one forced people to get loans they made the decisions on their own.
