60K, which is avg seasonal FLU deaths
No it isn’t.
You are referring to the worst year since the last flu pandemic and calling it average.
It would be 3x the average death from ILI.

LOL! Grocery stores are packed. Home improvement stores are packed. You really think "social distancing" is having any real affect on th
Yes.
Unless you as an individual is going daily, it’s a world of difference between working in close quarters with people 8 hours a day, 5 hours a week.
Ditto for kids, which serve as a common source of rapid cross household infection.
You are describing why it didn’t stop completely, not why the shutdown didn’t have a major effect.
Additionally, it’s the same people conducting the high risk behavior. If even a quarter practiced stay at home outside on one grocery bill a week, that’s an impediment to expected spread.

Now take away vaccines and known treatments for the seasonal flu, and redo your Math. Because that's the only way to get a valid comparison to corona, which has no vaccine or known treatments.

Its more or less in line with the flu, meaning flu+ (which is what I have referred to it since the beginning).
Estimates for this season from CDC.
LINK
20,000+ Americans have died this year from the flu but that started in the fall.

Flu has killed 20,000 Americans so far this season, including 136 children, CDC says

Last year 34k deaths.
quote:
CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2018–2019 season included an estimated 35.5 million people getting sick with influenza, 16.5 million people going to a health care provider for their illness, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths from influenza (Table 1). The number of influenza-associated illnesses that occurred last season was similar to the estimated number of influenza-associated illnesses during the 2012–2013 influenza season when an estimated 34 million people had symptomatic influenza illness6.

With the flu, everyone gets sick and a good portion will have to see a doctor. With the rona only a smaller percentage will probably need to even see a doctor.

Keep blaming the deep state because you’re too stupid to use Boolean operators.

Our confirmed case fatalities are nearly 5 times that figure in just 10% of the time

Restaurants, bars, schools, colleges, casinos, most places of business, air travel, the hotel industry, Disney World, concerts, baseball, basketball, museums, state and national parks etc are all closed
your post is called hurling the elephant. you just threw a bunch of stuff out there without context for each aspect

You are a dumbass. Restaurants are down over 50%. Traffic, are you kidding, at any time of the day I can get all the way across town in 10 mins. The closing of the airlines and schools have been attributed as the 2 of the largest factors in slowing down the virus. You realize that anyone can carry right? And younger people don't always even know when they have the virus. You know these things right? And besides essential businesses, who is working? Quit looking exclusively at porn kid, its all at your fingertips!

You've identified the problem. Now to work on the solution.

Dipshit, that’s 60k with full social distancing. We don’t shut everything down to mitigate seasonal flu.
Dipshit may be a bit harsh but why aren't trump supporters willing to acknowledge that Trump may have reduced numbers of deaths by encouraging drastic measures be taken? The thinking on the part of some is that Trump has been victimized, the virus is not serious and the MSM has scared the nation into drastic measures. That would have to mean that Trump allowed that on his watch, and that is pretty damning if you think the virus is nothing to worry about.
Trump may have been slow to the dance, that's arguable, but he has encouraged drastic measures be taken....the numbers appear to be leveling off dramatically...who knows what impact the measures Trump has encouraged have actually impacted the numbers BUT we have two verifiable facts....Trump encouraged action, numbers seem to be getting more manageable. He should be lauded for that. The MSM is never going to do so but some of his most ardent supporters are doing him a grave disservice by insinuating he has been played by the MSM and has over-reacted.
Trumps willingness to spend money encouraged folks to practice social distancing....many would not have had the means to do so without knowing they would have some financial support for a short period of time. The numbers are leveling off by all appearances....they haven't gone away but projections are better. The only possible scenarios are that Trump has done a good job OR the MSM played him like a fiddle and the numbers were never as bad as indicated and he has wasted billions of dollars....it would seem that the first possibility is more positive for Trump and Trump supporters but many supporters seem to think it is possible that both scenarios are possible....meaning Trump was played and wasted billions of dollars....that is a bad look if you ask me. I think he has done a pretty damn good job in this mess....I am worried about the long term impact on the economy but I am not in a position to have anything other than an opinion on that, I don't have the facts as to what the impact would have been had the worse case scenario for deaths were to happen....

What an idiotic OP. Had we done what Rush wants the death toll would be higher! Man the ignorance is strong on the rant.

The economic impact is a whole nother can of worms...it is going to be a shite show.....and will be used time and time and time again in the future to "correct" any crisis....

This seems a reasonable point. I guess it's easy to equate Covid19 and seasonal flu and just forget about all the near draconian mitigation policies put in place for Covid19.

I mean, maybe, but they welded people in their homes
