Trump's inability to work with congress or build a coalition (even in his own party) is hurting him.

They don’t want to work with him in any capacity. There is no way for him to build a coalition.

They refuse to codify one thing 70 million plus voted for.

Yuge numbers of meetings in 70th floor conference rooms in the major law firms in New York, London, and D.C. It’s going to be a task to monetize provable business loses based on the imposition of unconstitutional tariffs, but not at all too difficult.

What would totally ignoring the Supreme “Court” look like?

Why can't he use Congress, like the constitution demands?
He's alieniated numerous allies in congress. Spent all his political capital on the BBB whcih was nothing more than a bone to the GOPE/RINOs. We're in mid-term season, and after that he's a lame duck. Trump's legislative agenda is effectively dead. Sadly.

Stock market is UP on this news.

Kneejerk reaction. This ruling actually makes things more unpredictable, so I suspect the market will be all over the place in the next few weeks.

Market jumped to 49,900 when it was announced. It's now at 49,400.

Ask Spanberger and the Virginia House of Commons. They're doing it right now.

Why would any company pay the tariffs after this ruling?

There are already laws he could use

Those will be challenged, too, and you will have people like Massie and Rand seek to pass bills to reverse the powers those laws grant to the POTUS

It's all so silly at this point that we can't act swiftly while the rest of the world can. The rest of the world is salivating this morning.

And now he's trying to start a war to cover for it. Amazing

I understand why people would be in favor of Trump just acting and attempting to expand exec power

People of sick of Congress doing fricking nothing at all, especially when Rs are in place. And Trump just does things. He acts

But what happens when you get the Dem Trump and a Dem Congress...

Was this something that a previous Dem President had considered for tariffs?

I am not aware of the IEEPA previously being used for tariffs ever

Bernie Sanders
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Earl Blumenauer
Jeff Merkley
Ed Markey

And many more have advocated using this for climate change. End of "Backdoor" Carbon Taxes...

Halt Fossil Fuel Exports: By declaring oil and gas exports a threat to national security.

Target International Financing: Prohibiting US banks from financing coal plants or oil exploration abroad.

Mandate Green Tech Production: Using the Defense Production Act (often used in tandem with IEEPA) to force companies to prioritize solar and wind manufacturing.

You could easily look that up.
