Im going to guess Democrats want the light bill to serve as a form of ID.
This is without following this bill one iota.

Standard driver's licenses (even REAL ID-compliant ones without explicit citizenship notation) generally do not qualify on their own
This is where it goes too far
Citizenship is only noted on enhanced driver's licenses in 5 of the 50 states
Not everyone has a passport. Not everyone still has their birth certificate lying around. The only states to have these are Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington. If you live in other state, your driver's license would not meet the standards of photo ID. Given that's by far the most common form of ID that people have, I think that's an issue.

If you are too stupid to figure out how to get your birth certificate or find help to do that, then you shouldn't be able to vote. Why do you want more uninformed people voting? We need less but better quality people voting so they understand the ramifications of what they vote for each time.

I’m all for it
I have a sister in law that is a tenured political science doctor at Gwinnett
She is constantly passing on her liberal information to my wife and two college daughters
She is telling them if you get married and your id doesn’t match your birth certificate you can’t vote.
I told my daughters and wife that’s bs
There would be riots in the streets if that happened
Common sense will prevail maybe !!

This was true for me. I wasn't sure where I would have kept mine, yet it was taken care of getting a copy from state offices by making two simple phone calls and getting myself to said office to get that copy. Was far easier than I anticipated.

This is such a pathetic excuse. With this logic, I should be able to vote without ID because I lost my license. It's too hard to get another license, so I should just be allowed to vote based on my word.

I recently had to get a Real ID in order to fly to my sons wedding. I didn't have my birth certificate, I obtained a copy at the same building which issued me the Real ID drivers license.
Now, maybe some folks might have to go to a different address to get a birth certificate, but seriously..... it's an easy thing to do!!
Let's put this in different terms...
if these low income folks that theoretically can't get a birth certificate were required to do so for welfare or food stamps, I bet they could get it done!!

And to prove you’re a citizen to register, it’s either a birth certificate or passport. Since most people don’t have passports when they register, they will use their birth certificate.
And what’s the problem? Let me guess, you are going to say most people don’t have their birth certificate and married women’s last name on BC doesn’t match their current last name.
Ok well then simply go get a copy of your BC. It’s not hard. You simply go to clerk of courts office and pay $15 for a copy. And if you are a married woman, guess what, that’s what your marriage license is for.

Be honest. You know that most people thought this was simply about voter ID and that their driver's license would suffice.

I have a driver's license and a passport so I'm covered
But if I only had my driver's license, why should I be troubled with finding a copy of my birth certificate to vote?
Do you think that most people in favor of the act knew that their DL wasn't sufficient ID in most states? Because I definitely don't think that is the case.

They're taking it too far with what IDs meet the requirements.
How? I'll be able to vote. So will my wife, whose name on her birth certificate isn't the same as her married name. We have documentation. And even if we had lost it, it's cheap and easy enough to recover. Our kids will all be able to vote too. Same with my neighbors and my friends and my extended family. Literally not one single person in my social periphery will be in any way disenfranchised or hindered from voting in any way. I don't even know why anyone believes the outright lies being spewed by D.C. Liberals right now.
You need valid ID to buy NyQuil at the fricking Dollar General. Why is it so "fascist" to demand it for elections?
It isn't. There's no reason to oppose it unless you're cheating the election systems and you know it. And even if it caused a minor temporary inconvenience for me in some way, I'd be happy to work through it knowing I could feel better about election integrity.

A drivers license would be a great form of ID if we weren’t handing them out like candy to every person who made it across our borders.

The Federal Government is in charge of citizenship and immigration control; therefore, the Federal Government should be in charge of setting the laws to control citizens to prove they are indeed legal citizens in order to vote. This is NOT taking over the State powers of how they vote; it is strictly the insurance of each State's adherence to laws preventing non citizens from casting ballots.

Simple question for you with a simple yes/no answer.
Do you support people being able to vote without proving that they are who they claim to be and are legally eligible to vote?

That's because all the leftist shithole states have already proven they will hand out a driver license to anyone, illegal or not, so they are worthless for proving citizenship.
But you already know that.
