I really don't get why those same elites would keep giving free food and medical care to exact demographics that crank out babies the fastest. Kinda weird

Cull the cattle that cause "trouble", increase the cattle that can be more easily controlled.

If AI is going to replace human labor in the white collar market, then where are the jobs of tomorrow going to be at?

If everyone's going to lose jobs then where is the money going to come from to support the next great age of America?

Other than UBI.

So when AI screws up a medical procedure or a contractor builds erroneously off of AI plans and people and/or the environment are harmed, who is held accountable?

Whoever owns it or implemented it. It's a tool.

From personal experience, skillfully asking it questions and follow up questions makes it an insanely useful tool. In the past few months I’ve used to find cancer treatments for my dog where multiple vets told me there was no hope. I’ve also used it to better understand my mom’s cancer diagnosis so that I’m better able to interpret for her what her doctors are telling her. The amount of information I’ve gleaned in the past few months would be impossible for me to ever pull together on my own. I find it to be an amazing tool for organizing my thoughts on a particular subject.

The AI push is a threat to national security and individual autonomy.
Someone go ask Elon if he'll be living on UBI when AI takes everyone's job. The answer, of course, is no. Some of you will defend this, foolishly. If you are rich, but not in that tier of people that control things, you are no different than the poor in the eyes of people like Elon and entities like Palantir. You're just another piece on the board, subjected to the algorithm. Your assets and wealth will be seized for the public good. Elon's will not. When that happens, I wonder how many people here will still suck on Elon's nuts.
It is far more likely that this is the worst thing to ever happen to humanity than for this to provide a net benefit at the margins.
We're not going to get more than one or two (at most) cracks at this, with regard to voting. If we don't radically change how we vote, it's going to slip away very quickly.

I'm in this very close. It's really simple...

Bottom line: you better be a self-driven person who wants to build and create... one who is willing to take risks and produce daily.

If not, you're fricked.

People truly believe that they can just push a button and AI will take over a bank tellers job instantly

It's more like what are 300 million starving citizens going to do with the elites?

Like a 3rd party review that costs just as much time and money as having an actual person do it in the first place?

That would frick up all those sweet legal fees, you really need a lawyer to operate the template for basic docs and charge hundreds an hour to do so.

There will be a correction IMO

The more I see the rise of AI, the more I think of Frank Hebert's Dune. In Herbert's Dune universe, a historical movement known as the Butlerian Jihad resulted in the total destruction and strict prohibition of all "thinking machines", including computers, robots and artificial intelligence of any kind. The Butlerian Jihad was a semi-religious social upheaval initiated by humans who felt repulsed by how guided and controlled they had become by machines.

Via the prohibition "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind," the creation of even the simplest thinking machines is outlawed and made taboo.

We heard the same thing about computers. "They're going to kill the job market", etc., etc,

Under 5 years isn't really a bold statement IMO

It’s a wrong statement. I’ll bet anyone that AI does not reduce the number of doctors, engineers, welders or pipefitters by more than 5% in 60 months. It’s farther out than the alarmists are saying.
