Christianity had it's own dark times.
The thing about Islam is that it doesn't seem to evolve. There's no kinder, gentler version of Islam. It's the same brutal cult that it was when came about 1300 years ago. It still encourages barbarism by it's practitioners.
It's a one-off among religions around the world. There's not another that calls for killing non-practitioners.

Yes, let's create a society built around not telling the truth because it may give bad arguments to dumb, dishonest people.
IRA and UDA aren't remotely similar to ISIS.
You can make an argument that Hamas or the PLO/Fatah/etc. are more akin to IRA/UDA than ISIS/AQ/MB/etc. in that the struggle is as much about politics/sectarianism than actual religious warfare, although it's far from strong.

Feel free to drop your daughter(female family member) off in any majority Muslim country vs Christian country for a couple of years and get back to us. Although your daughter probably won’t be able to walk around without you as a chaperone. Women have never had it better than they do in the tolerant Christian West. I could throw in gays too, but in a Muslim country they’d be thrown off the building.
