Since when did marriage = procreation? I have news for year, not every male and female that engages in vaginal intercourse wants to have a child.

look you are new here - perhaps you are very young also.

You seem to be a person of good intentions - but be aware you are bringing up a topic which many of us who have been around the block a few times instantly realize as one of the early 'requests' which we - as normal people wanting everyone to enjoy their own lives as long as they leave us alone' - soon realized that others with absolutely evil intent were using people like you to destabilize the entire concept of productive civilization.

THEIR goal is not to make lives better for people like you - THEIR goal is to become the overlords of civilization itself, where THEY can sort people into 'groups' to get HOSTILITY between them over trivial and non-existent 'problems'.

They have preyed on OUR fundamental desire to help people out - to bend to reasonable requests, only to have repeatedly been stabbed in the back by those who pleaded for 'just a little 'acceptance' - we are tire of it - we are seeing the destructive effects we have 'allowed' to happen out of our generosity.

People like me - whose ONLY concern right now is how my 3 great grandchildren will be able to survive in the "bar scene from Star Wars future" being rammed down out throats. If any one of them wants to shack up with another guy - that is ok - but I want them to each have a chance to engage in things THEY want to do without the 'lords of the universe' telling them what they HAVE to do.

open your eyes - try to safeguard the future. Try to accomplish something more worthy of your existence other than where you enjoy "placing your d**k" - that is insulting to our intelligence and our good will.

Or just call for an end to government marriage licenses.

You shouldn’t need the states blessing to get married. No matter who you are.

Exactly. Same goes for divorce. You should be able to form and dissolve relationships as you see fit. None of the government's business.

I love the way they name bills these days. You instantly know what it does by the name alone.
The trick is to think the opposite of what the words are telling you.
Works almost every time.

Let religious institutions handle marriage.

Governments need to stay out of it.

So we should be ok with the federal government dictating what law a state can pass?

Why do these modern non-traditional arrangements seek out validation from traditional systems that they reject?

Individual states should make this decision.

Like for abortion.

Here’s something that will blow your mind. Trump was the first president during his initial campaign to support gay marriage.

Stfu with the embrace stuff they already do. They don’t want to get rid of it. It’s legal

Hopefully, they vote for the Respect for Marriage Act this week
You contradict yourself here. They should be small govt and stay out of private lives by passing a law about private lives? The Court has ruled. The law is unnecessary and nothing but a political game.

And if this is the issue keeping you from voting republican there is something wrong with you. Think about what a picayune and settled matter you're putting before all of the other issues that impact your life.

Because once the traditional system validates their filth, the system has invalidated itself. And that's the goal.

No. This is pathetic.

At what point does a Conservative Party actually conserve something? I refuse for an American Conservative Party to go the way of conservative parties in Europe and Canada.

Conservatives don’t need to openly campaign against it, but they need to combat it via policy.

This issue is solely unpopular due to media.

It’s all manufactured consent.

But what makes me just short of calling myself a republican is their opposition to gay marriage.

What's next...polygamy?

There is literally no moral difference between polygamy and homosexuality. The Bible certainly condemns homosexuality in much harsher language than it does plural marriages. Both are the acts of consenting adults who want to have their unions and their families recognized by law and having those protections.

Yet polygamy remains illegal in all 50 states.

How can gay marriage be constitutional but not polygamy?

I'm not for legalizing polygamy. There are other issues traditionally associated with polygamy...child marriage, welfare fraud, etc. But that's no justification for making the entire practice illegal. while recognizing gay marriage. At some point, polygamists may take to the courts and win.

Go get the conservative blacks, Hispanics and gays.

You have to grow the base. Conservatives should support stability in marriage.

Gay marriage is already legal. What makes this even more legal?
Currently given federal protection under a SCOTUS ruling (Obergefell). This legislation would codify the protections statutorily, such that they would remain in place even if Obergefell is overturned.

Yes.

It's pretty much a vindictive way of making traditional people bend the knee.
