You never make any move in the first place without behind the scenes wrangling and have stuff reasonably in place. Politics 101.

It was a catastrophe because they are idiots.

It was McCarthy's fault, but not for your reasons. He didn't live up to his promises and therefore reneged on the deal.

Watch McCarthy enter the Speaker race again, give concessions to some Dems to get cross over votes, and win again but now with promises made to Dems.

THIS IS THE POINT!

There is no deal required if he doesn't fail in attracting GOP candidates that are worth a damn and actually help get them elected. His job was to recruit, fund raise, and get these people elected. HE FAILED. At that point, he should have resigned his leadership position and maybe none of this would have been a problem to start.

When you think the other guy is bluffing and you call his hand and it turns out he’s holding 4 aces…who’s fault is that?

Certainly not the guy holding all the cards.

Its his fault that the first vote was even taken. Since then I imagine great sums of cash are being thrown at a no vote for pubs then money will back a simp/est dem or rino.

Not all is bad news because you can see who believes what and who is a paid off money whore.

Were all the people refusing to back Scalise money whores? Or do you own a pair of one way lenses.

McCarthy promised but didn’t deliver.

How can anyone deny he’s not at fault for all this mess??

Which will only confirm that he was the wrong man for the job all along. The Dems will own him, but he doesn’t care, he’s got the gavel back.

Then publicly not behind closed doors challenged fellow pubs.
He blew it.

He failed to deliver the funds

McCarthy raised more funds than any other GOP congressman and it wasn't even close.

Sure. Matt Gaetz joined with the Democrats and did what he did, but McCarthy was in charge of getting Republicans elected. He failed to deliver the funds and the votes to have the red wave we were supposed to have. If it wasn't for his failure here, he would have a larger majority and Gaetz would have been a non-issue.

I'd also say this is a failure to whip votes. Steve Scalise, and Tom Emmer play a part in their failure to whip votes accordingly.

Like or hate McCarthy's leadership - it doesn't matter. We're here because of him.

If you need to tell yourself this go right ahead. Hope it works out for ya.

It's the conference's fault that they put in a speaker with a rule that a single member could vacate the chair. They let their backbenchers rule them.

Simple minded people like you think you can squeeze a balloon and not have its shape change elsewhere.

That rule was the reason McCarthy was electable. It was the assurance that he would keep his promises.

You want to pretend that wasn’t the case and look at the rule in a vacuum.

It’s dumb, man.
