Yes. My portfolio is down but I subscribe to the buy and hold strategy. I buy, and I hold.
Yes, but while the market is down, what happens to your rate of return?
Does it stay the same, or are you losing?

For what specific goal?
1. Put tariffs in place so manufacturing returns to the US
2. Negotiate better deals with the countries who make everything, allowing manufacturing to stay in those countries
3. ???
4. Profit

This is what these guys don't understand. I know they hate boomers and retirement plans, but nearly every pension plan I do work for just finally dug out of '08-'09 to get back to proper funded status. Most have like 7% return assumptions. Yes, they all have actuaries and investment consultants to deal with this, but even a 0 year now would be terrible. You throw in a negative or multi-year recession, the pension system is going to blow.

Democrats and the GOP were doing to the American economy what OBL did to the Twin Towers

Do you even have money in the market,
My cabin acct which was at $140k a couple weeks ago and is supposed to be released Monday or Tuesday dropped $3500 with the quickness.

It’s clearly down, but that is the nature of the stock market. If you want a guaranteed rate of return open a savings account or buy a CD. If stocks are too risky, invest in bonds or treasuries. I prefer growth and you can’t get that by staying uber conservative. Frankly, a downturn is actually fine for me in the long term because I can buy more assets at a discount.

This whole plan seems insanely risky and possibly the worst unforced error ever.

Exactly
They think if the market gets back to where it was, they lost nothing, and that is ridiculous.

Leave it alone and don’t look at it. If you can, buy more right now and you’ll look back in 10 years and smile.

I dont think anyone saw that idiotic, amateurish rollout and subsequent stock market falling to happen in two months of his taking office.
As much as i think he's a fraud, i suppose I still had too much faith in him.
