Exactly. The presidential race is about winning the undecided votes and activating more voters to come to the polls.
Trump's unwillingness to debate will hurt him more as his key to the race is winning undecided and moderate voters. Debates can be important for this.
Harris's key to the race is to activate more voters to come out and vote for her. That's more about grassroots volunteers and rallies than a debate.
No debate is a win for Harris. Many voters are assuming she's moderated some of her views in somewhat alignment with Biden or others are assuming she is maintaining her ultra-liberal stances. Voters will often choose to believe what they want. Without a debate, Trump can't make her be more definitive on her positions.

I'm sure he will. I just don't see that the current back and forth is going to go in his favor with the MSM getting most of the airtime setting the context. It's just taking too long and the narrative is getting set with him on the back foot.
I think he needs a better offensive pitch to reset the discussion and get her on the defensive.
The only counterpoint I can really foresee is artificially setting up low expectations for himself (old dude tries to avoid debate with hip young black lady candidate - which is what media will portray) with the idea that he can score big by demolishing her when the debate actually happens. But that seems far-fetched.

Harris is unwilling to debate because she can’t. Literally can not do it.
Now what she will do is go into a forum where they can and will turn Trump’s mic off, and give her a complete list of every “question” that will be asked word for word, if the “moderator” doesn’t just request a list of the questions she’s willing to toss a word salad at in advance.

As someone pointed out earlier in this thread, that was proposed to Biden; the situation has changed.
Trump will only get one debate, at most, against Kamala. One of the knocks against her is that she cannot formulate her own responses to questions. In order to test this Trump has to get her in a debate with moderators who won’t feed the questions to her team ahead of time, which would allow her to memorize prepared speeches.

After destroying 15 other Republican candidates in the 2016 primaries, destroying Hillary Clinton’s career and any legacy she may have hoped to have, living the next seven years under nonstop persecution from the Uniparty in Congress and the rest of the Deep State; ie. pee-tape hoax, Russia hoax, sham impeachments, innumerable personal attacks on his family, being demonized by having multiple statements taken out of context and/or twisted (Nazis are fine people, inject bleach; etc.), or made up entirely (suckers and losers) by the Marxist propaganda machine, multiple sham lawsuits (Stormy, “overvalued home”; etc)…
…I’m certain he’s “sCaReD tO dEaTh” to debate Vice President Cumdumpster McWordsalad because she wants it to be on ABC.
