If you restrain yourself to the "symbolic" you're just asking for shite to go sideways.

You missed my point, which was that a symbolic boots-on-the-ground raid by the USA would send a shock wave through Iran and the Iranian people would be emboldened by it.

They're not going to do that. Trump specifically said they wouldn't do that even. Instead he said he's going to hit the regime where it REALLY hurts. I'm guessing he will start blowing up their personal homes.

The internet blackout reminds me of how news was before the internet. You didn’t know near as much as people do now about events.

This whole situation is a great example of why the 2nd amendment exists in the US. Without an armed populace we'd be Australia, UK, or Iran. Subject to the whims of whoever is in power.

The Sunni-majority nations around Iran - and that includes Saudi Arabia - do not want a regime change. Some of these Sunni-majority nations are also sponsors of Sunni jihadism. These nations know very well that an Iran with a strong, popular, secular government will be a natural ally of US, Israel against Sunni jihadism. A weak mullah regime in Iran will be far easier for these Sunni majority nations to manipulate.

And this is exactly why we need a regime change in Iran. For far too long our attention has been diverted by the Iranian Resistance Axis. The collapse of the Iranian regime will mark the official end of that Axis. Once that happens, we will be finally able to re-focus on the rising threat of Sunni jihadism, not just in the region but globally. The Sunni jihadist threat needs our immediate attention.

F**k ‘em. The whole world would be better off if the Middle East was made up of muslim countries with a secular government like Turkey or Azerbaijan. Overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran would be a good start.

I get wanting to ditch the Mullahs, but why reinstall a king system? Why not turn to a representative republic with free and open elections? Are there just too many factions to govern effectively?

Probably. We found out the hard way in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya that a western style democracy will not work. The Middle East is and Central Asia are still tribal and clan based more than they are nation based. Installing a monarch or other strongman to take control of Iran and stabilize the country will work a lot better than trying to install a democracy. I have no idea if the crown prince is the right person for the job or not though, but he does seem to be popular in Persia.

A Constitutional Monarchy like it was before as it transitions to a Democrat Republic similar to the USA.

Beware of the Commies who saying no Shah. Such those who have infiltrated media. They are a tiny minority who started the revolution 47+ years ago, which was co-opted by the mullahs
