This is also not Venezuela. There was very little pushback on that due to it being our hemisphere even though it was a heavy blow to China/Russia
Geopolitically, Iran is a bit dicier. Russia and China won’t like it and will likely supply arms to the regime. Israel may prefer a war torn and divided Iran over a new regime. Iran also while not a match for us is stronger militarily than Venezuela. I don’t think Trump backs down. But it will likely take a little longer to act because the intel needs to be solid and we have to ensure we don’t pop off a larger conflict.
This is spot on. Have to prepare for all contingencies. Can’t just go in guns a-blazing. Where to strike. How to strike. Minimize risks. Not hit civilians to give them a pulpit. And need to nail where leadership is.
Also, need to get communication back up so Iranians can communicate to push it over the top. We can’t do it alone and can only help give them courage to topple regime. Selected strikes can do that and will embolden citizens.
But we need to prepare for anything they can launch to other countries. Trump keeps how word but will be smart in how/when its done.

It was five days from the time we evaced the bases until the day we bombed the nuclear sites, and that was with a bunch of assets pre-staged in the region. We've pulled a lot of those assets since then, and we are scrambling to bring some back into the region. We are not as prepared this time as we were back in June.
It isn't just about what we do to strike Iran this time. We also have to account for any retaliation, and we just don't have the assets we had then to help if a bunch of shite gets thrown at Israel.
