The Kurds are a tough group and not overly fond of the Iranian regime.

I really like this idea.

They won't need hundreds of Green Berets. They need a couple of A teams and a CCT attached to them. Maybe one company of 5th SFG?

Lol

We used 8 ODAs (12 men each) for Task Force Dagger in Afghanistan.

Unless they struck a deal with Erdrogen, Turkey is likely not going to be happy. The last thing they want is armed Kurds building a state on their border.

Let Erdogen frick around. There are a lot of beautiful women in Turkey that could use some freedom as well.

It’s gone tits up for the Kurds every single time, too.

The fact that they're still loyal bros to the US is wild to me... we owe them bigly over the years

The Kurds were tough group and hated the Saddam regime too.

The Kurds in Iran will fight for their little corner of the country but won’t be liberating Tehran or the rest of the country for the Shiites.

Indeed.
Turkey, aka Türkiye, will raise holy hell over that.

They have the largest standing army in the West Asia, are a NATO member, and border Iran. In addition, the regime in Syria is largely a Turkish puppet. They could certainly cause some problems

Turkey is the next Iran according to Naftali Bennet who is expected to be the next PM for Israel. So congrats to the neocons on this board, our greatest ally already has our next war lined up for us

I think Lying Tim Kennedy said he fought thousands of Iranians in the past. Maybe he’ll sign up to rehab his public image.

The Kurds are like the simpy guy best friend that does everything for a woman who gives him literally nothing in return. She abuses him and clearly has zero romantic interest in him, but he keeps coming back thinking this time she’s gonna give him a romantic relationship (nation state).

Iran is almost 3 times the size of Afghanistan with an infinitely more capable military.

Before we say that, can we get an idea of what they're getting in order to do this?

Freedom? They get a raw deal in Iran and Iraq.

Along with hundreds of Green Berets and nice helping of conventional troops to back them up if they get in a bind.

Quit trying to sound like you know anything about the actual military. Hundreds of GB's? Like tabbed ODA guys? lol. That would be at least 20 ODA's, a freaking battalion. Higher than peak GWOT deployment.

Yep starting a civil war in Iran sounds like a great idea.

Certain interests prefer it that way because Iran with a strong government free of the ayatollah could be a strong regional force.

Iran beset by civil war is weak and easier to control.

They are just simply going to be helping in the predominantly Kurdish areas of Iran. Kurdish forces aren’t going to be trying to overtake Tehran

As the Greek philosopher La’ Bron James once said, “the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray.”
