I thought the USSC was set to end racial gerrymandering?
This isn't that case. That's Louisiana's map.
When is the SCOTUS supposed to rule on? That case will affect more states than just Louisiana (Alabama being one of them). The Louisiana case went to the SCOTUS before this CA case, so why is the SCOTUS still sitting on the LA case?

Miguez is already in that race. Graves wont unseat him.
Didn’t know that, was hoping he would run. He represented the district well.

Of course they did. They can't ok Texas's plan and not ok California's without looking massively biased.

It’s a much deeper issue that will require a new interpretation of the Voting Rights Act regardless of which way they rule. Hence the time it’s taking them and the fact that it was heard last term and they wanted rehearing on broader issues.
I don’t expect that one until end of the term in June. But perhaps they do it sooner, but doing so would upset legislative districts pretty close to an election.

That should end any chance the GOP retains their seats House. They’re now 5 seats down.

Are you saying no state has ever gerrymandered in between a census cycle?
Youre so good at diverting lol. I never said it has never happened. It is rare though and Noone talked about it til trump did. That was my point.
Feel free to try to ask another stupid question to divert from what I'm saying.

Some claim CA is 40-45% conservative and yet the conservatives have less than 5 congressional seats out of 52. Is this what the founders intended when they framed the constitution for a representative democracy?

Then gerrymander the frick out of every state where it is possible to redraw the maps.
Jeff should call the Legislature into a special session tomorrow and redraw Louisiana’s districts and remove every dem seat.

Thinking about this and I guess the bottom line is that political gerrymandering is okay. So there is no excuse for Red States not to do what California did as precedent has been set. Red States need to get to work asap.

If thst what they want. Time to gerrymander everywhere until further notice.
Republicans fired the first shot in Texas. This is all part of the Republican utopia.

At least the democrats left it up to the voters in CA (and will in VA) via referendum. The GOP has just acted via the legislatures without giving voters a say in the process

Gerrymandering support ON [OFF]
Posted on 2/5/26 at 7:28 am to MrLSU
At least it won’t take CA a month to count votes now, they can have it stolen on election night and get it over with

And the Ds will still blame the Rs for all the issues in this state

Gerrymandering for political advantage is not a problem according to SCOTUS, if I’m recalling correctly.
I think they have ruled it’s not constitutionally supportable if district lines are drawn or redrawn on a racial basis.
I’m pretty sure I read that the guy California Democrats hired to do their maps stated in several platforms that creating and strengthening Latino districts based on race guided his efforts.
I’m not sure POTUS gave an explanation of their decision, but I’m fairly sure there were no dissenting opinions offered.
It appears they screwed this up.
