That would be like wondering why the GOP supports gun control, well, duh, what party does the NRA (and similar bodies) mostly donate to?
Again, terrible analogy but point taken. The 2nd amendment along with the first are the holy grail of conservatives regardless of funding. The dems use welfare as their money source and backing for votes. Congress critters need their kick backs but the dems need the votes on top of that.

That has been tried before and lost 9-0 at the Supreme court.

Abolish the income tax. In the early days of this country, spending was limited and the revenue was collected from tariffs. That’s healthy and how it should be. There is no constitutional or moral justification to take people’s hard earned money because of some mythical social contract.

Modern day people don't want to live in some Libertarian fantasy land without school lunch programs, ER services to the poor (at the least - many people want poor people to have access to more), a Small Business Administration, etc.
If Musk didn't get rid of it, it will never go away until congress eliminates some of these things which quite probably will not happen.

Yep, start with some unlimited defense spending.
How bout an audit? Naw, can't do it.
The deficit is twice as high as the defense budget.

Flat tax would lower taxes on the top 10 percent and raise taxes of 90 percent of Americans.
You sure about that.
If a person is wealthy enough they know or hire people to know the intricacies of the tax code and minimize their tax exposure. It is why as a percentage of income some million or billionaires pay less than their secretaries.
You eliminate all deductions and go flat across the board millionaires would pay more.

Agreed. The dude making $30,000 shouldn’t be able to vote for free healthcare for himself at the expense of people making $90,000.

Fair Tax plan is the way to go because if you are not a citizen you don't get the prebate. And you are paying the sales tax, without the prebate, as a privilege of being in the country.

The US doesn’t have a Revenue problem, … we have a Spending problem

Fair tax not flat. Flat take keeps the income tax.
Fair tax abolishes the income tax and repeals the 16th amendment.

I looked it up earlier- definitely has some very attractive policies!

We need to cut spending, dramatically
The biggest cuts needed are to programs that lose you elections if you say you will cut them.

The only "fair" tax is a consumption tax.

That’s because Americans like you are hand out weaklings. Just look at your post history if you don’t understand. We should simply do away with universal suffrage and only those who pay taxes beyond a certain threshold should be allowed to vote. This negates your primary concern.
Lowering taxes on the top 10% will accomplish the following:
1. Increase conspicuous spending, which will increase demand, thus driving a motivation to increase supply.
2. The need to increase supply will drive investment in business by the same 10%. Caveat here is those who wish to invest in business outside of the US are then filtered into a 50% tax bracket with no ability to write off expenses. This will decrease the nominal value of not investing in American business. Also, no longer allow foreign investors to influence American business and the American economy. It’s purely globalist and part of the reason 50% is struggling.
3. Investment in business drives job creation. Job creation drives competition for salaries. Higher salaries allow the middle class to then increase their conspicuous spending, repeating steps 1 and 2 at a lower economy of scale.
Forget all that though - let’s continue to advocate for the welfare state and continue to force those who actually have the ability to continue the growth of our economy to be responsible for those who don’t even try to be responsible for themselves.

Yes and they would make up half the voters and toss whomever votes for a flat tax out of office.
This is how you democrats get voters.
You people suck.

Please stay out of economics, that isn't your area hoss.
I'd gladly take a flat 15% income tax....and it would be a nice reduction in my taxes. I honestly haven't looked at where I fall, but I'm fairly certain that $150K isn't top 10% for one person.
You should have to pay taxes, and not rely on the more successful to be penalized for being successful.

In other words it would make it more fair to everyone. We should implement it as soon as possible
