quote:Even deeper than that. If tariffs make overseas manufactured prices higher, there's no reason for domestic producers to not raise their prices to match. So even if you don't buy inputs, if tariffs "work", you'll still pay it buying domestic products.
The answer to your question is no. You can't avoid them.

We should just keep doing things like we have been since the 90’s, it’s worked so well

I really wish people would be as disgusted with the income tax as much as they are with with tariffs.

our primary raw material cannot be sourced domestically, so we have little choice in the matter. It's not like we can simply choose to "buy American."
I think you have a very reasonable perspective. I'm curious why can't the material be sourced domestically & is there anything we can do to help fix that?

If tweet fails to load, click here. “In the early 1900, they switched over stupidly to an income tax. And you know why? Because countries were putting a lot of pressure on America. We don't wanna pay tariffs. Believe me, they control our politicians. If you look at the kind of numbers that these guys make then and now”
Anyone complaining about tariffs is selling you out
We are all literally paying an income tax because US Politicians are taking bribes from foreign counties to enrich themselves
You should be furious

The problem is we live in a society that wants things fixed in 10 seconds. Bessett’s the plan is sound. It just takes some time. But the end goal is to remove income tax. I would gladly pay more on products if it means I don’t have to deal with the hassle of income tax every year.

Estimates are somewhere between 4-18 percent of the tariffs are taken by the exporters. And 10-14 percent of importers eat the expense. So somewhere between 14-32 percent of tariffs are not paid by the consumer.

You’re presenting this like there are only two camps when there’s a sizable third group you’re overlooking: People who are not ideologically opposed to tariffs at all, but who objected to the way they were imposed.
That's a very small group. Take a few of them like SLow and Roger...etc. They are simply against it all and used the method to attack them. While they appear to be in that third group, they are actually in the group that hates them.
But yes, there are those who stated they are pro tariff, but did not like the method for fear that the dems would use it. It's a fair critique.

We manufacturing most of our products ourselves; however, the stuff we cannot make is bought primarily from Asia (used to be China) where they pay slave wages and are not concerned with all the damage to the ecology.
To make this in the US and following the laws, would cost way too much money. Some of our behomuth "competitors" make this product in the US, but is very little and done just to appease certain customers.
Either way, it is something the consumer wants and ignores the damage it does when there are different but better options.
