So budgets are passed by Congress, we all get that. But if the DOGE comes up with silly programs to cut, can the Sec of that dept immediately end the program?
I would think the Sec of whatever could just end a program under his control at any time, at least ones not deemed necessary??

Among many other things, bring back the weekly Golden Fleece award that Wisconsin Senator William Proxmire gave out weekly. It brought awareness to stupid things that government money was spent on. Have Vivek address it weekly at a press briefing and let Elon blast it out on X.

The only hangup I have with it is the bills and all the pork stuffed in there.
Are they going to have access to the bills before being put on the floor for a vote? Are they going to have to post the ridiculous expenditures post vote. How is that going to work?

requiring debts to assemble zero based budgeting would be a start. But I would expect the Elon/Vivek duo to work a little faster.

I listened to a great interview between VIVEK & Tucker Carlson, i suggest anyone interested to see how DOGE is going to work & operate, google & listen, it’s WORTH TIME.
summary:
1. force all Gov’t employees to actually work 5 days week in their office, right now, on average, each one is going in 4 days or less and working from home.
2. move the departments from DC and they can move or NOT
example:; Dept. of Agriculture moving to Iowa or Nebraska (and watch these DC clowns kick & screen)
VIVEK said just with those 2 changes, could cut 50+% or Gov’t employees that way.
3. he said that there are TONS of Illegally made laws that are UNCONSTITUTIONAL on its Face. Laws that were signed in without the due processes and he HINTED that the USSC said to bring them to the court & overnight these laws will be EXTINGUISHED, and with that, then tons of Bureaucracy will be be chopped in half very quickly.
He said that in the past it could never be done because of the Uniparty Rino’s not even wanting to pursue it, BUT now with the agenda and MAGA, the courts being stacked in our favor etc.. that we will see a whirlwind of changes.
He said (which any of us can see if you’ve ever been in a Gov’t office), but that everyone is sitting around with nothing to do and then they go create new things and obstacles to muddy the water & its layers upon layers of ILLEGAL LAW being used against the citizens and business owners.
4. He said that within the first 1-2 years, they will have cut between $1-2Trillion from the Annual Budget & $2 Trillion happens to be our Deficit spending every year, so they could get the budget balanced from the cuts ALONG with DJT drilling for oil everywhere he can & being a major net exporter and that in relatively no time, we will have a surplus.
Side Note: I read another article or maybe interview with Elon & supposedly Elon promised DJT that he can cut $2Trillion from the budget in fat & waste.
they have a MAJOR OVERHAUL PLAN & they are brilliant enough to get it done.
Tucker Carlos even mentioned that their are legal obstacles that would limit them on “just laying off Gov’t workers”
and that’s when VIVEK said, “yeah, but if we move offices and forcefully make them go to work every day”, a ton of them will just quit.
5. lastly, they may even offer a 2-year full-pay severance package and that it seems that it’s too much or a lot of money to spend on that, but in the long run, will save Trillions.
I have faith they will get it done. VIVEK is a sharp dude & we already know Elon is a freak when it comes to cutting companies down and getting the same or better results.
all the FedGov is, is an Oversized Bloated business that is stealing from its Investors aka “Tax payers and modern day slaves” to the system.
and these guys are top level CEO’s & Vivek a brilliant minded Lawyer as well. they can do this in their sleep once you listen to the interview, you’ll see what i’m saying.

How realistic is this really? DOGE is not an agency, they really will have 0 actual power. They will have Trump's ear as consultants and will make recommendations.
But the recommendations still have to be approved by Congress. Then gov union lawyers will get involved to slow things down, etc

I truly believe the federal government could cut out half of their non-military budget or probably more.
