Jimmy Conrad and Heath Pearce had a great discussion on the In Soccer We Trust podcast today. Basically pointing out how fricked up this whole thing is.

Can we get a summary?
A very quick synopsis is that both before this didn't want Gregg back as coach, but not like this. Jimmy made a good point about it's fricked up that the Reyna's will actually get the end result that they wanted, because there is no way that Gregg can come back now. Heath was pissed that the Reyna's straight up weaponized information that they held onto for over three decades and pointed out how Danielle in her statement said that she did come to eventually forgive Gregg for the incident, only to really not forgive him because she's now using it to end him.
What I agree with the most is that they also felt so bad for Rosalind who now has to relive this traumatic experience all over again because her best friend made it public. They also noted how the Berhalter's have 4 kids including some still in high school who now have to learn about this for the first time, when it was literally nobody's business but their parents to tell them about it.

This sounds like some Netflix teen drama series.

Excuse me but I think in something I read elsewhere and it might of been Gregg's own statement was that his kids already knew. But the whole situation underscores how incestuous the whole US Soccer and MLS is. Gregg's brother is second in charge of the MLS. His boss is on the advisory board to US soccer. Claudio with FC Austin will make for some fun MLS meetings. Ernie and Claudio being buds. We need to bring in a Coach that has no tentacles in US Soccer or MLS and give him freedom to make his own calls with staff and players.

This is the worst part of it all. Feel awful for her.

Yep. Unfortunately, this will follow Gio around no matter who the coach is. Hopefully, in time, he can rise above it because we need a talent like him.

Boy it sure does, and does everyone and the entire US soccer operation looked awful.
Just my two cents, but think the Reyna’s clearly come off the worst in this petulant affair.
Gio, you’re a young kid and I’m very sorry you had to endure a moment in time where your boss/coach didn’t act in your best interests. Welcome to real life. Pretty much everyone is in that situation from time to time, and most people don’t respond with a public flame thrower. You’d be well served to walk into your next lockerroom like you are poor.

Only way he ever completely puts this behind him is by publicly (or at least in front of his team) admonishing what his parents did and saying it was wrong, then becoming one of the greatest to ever wear the USMNT jersey
How could his parents not realize this would put a black mark on their son's flourishing young career? All of this just so short-sighted, screw it all

Because Claudio/Wife are acting like a 5 y/o entitled, selfish and spoiled brat. Notice how his wife is making it about her now and her "getting over it".

It’s going to be Gregg.

Kind of feels like you want it to be Gregg so you can keep complaining.

Gio didn’t have anything to do with it. Imo it doesn’t make him look bad at all. In fact, his behavior (temper tantrum) makes total sense now that we’re seeing how unprofessional US Soccer management has become.

Didn't he have a soft tissue injury/injuries during the majority of the Dortmund season (so far?)

IMO it would be better for both parties if Greg just waived the white flag and moved on. The US soccer federation is already a clusterfrick and this is making it worse. Cut ties and start over with someone new.

Mainstream media sports are now starting to call out US Soccer for it's nepotism. More accurate would be calling out it's incestuous relationship with MLS.

A lawyer that came on In Soccer We Trust today said it's important to note that Gregg said he hopes to coach the USMNT into the future. It's the first time we've heard him say that definitively and, even if he either has no intention of coaching or knows USSF is moving on from him, that comment could've been advised by a lawyer to set the stage for the Berhalter's to pursue legal action against the Reyna's. Now it's on public record that Gregg wants a renewed contract, which means there is something he can sue the Reyna's for if he's not hired due to the timing of all this (even if the USSF had no intention of keeping him before all this).
The lawyer also mentioned that, if that's the case, it would likely be in the USSF's best interest to keep Berhalter, because if they don't and this does go to trial, Cone, Stewart and McBride would likely have to testify. So while it originally looked like the Reyna's, while killing their reputations, still would get what the wanted (Gregg gone in humiliating fashion), this could all backfire on them and on us.
Fun.

So did the Reyna’s do this after Gio wasn’t getting playing time or did Gio not get playing time because they were trying to blackmail him?
