Jeff Carlisle
@JeffreyCarlisle
Sources: Berhalter set for #USMNT contract talks with the USSF.

One source acknowledged it's still very early in the process, and other sources have indicated that Berhalter is interested in exploring European club options.

Chelsea, I know you just hired Potter, but this is your real chance for the man Greggg

Liverpool, Klopp might not stay forever so lock up your silver medal now

This pissed me off about making the knockouts. For the sake of US Soccer going into 2026 we really needed to beat Iran and advance but I knew that meant Berhalter would be coaching 4 more years. Maybe he’ll add a good asst or two that are mildly functional when it comes to tactics.

If you were frustrated with Gregg, you're going to be frustrated with Jesse.

I get too worked up just thinking about the “leadership” at USSF that I’m unable to put together coherent thoughts.

But this sums up my feelings…

I still think there is a better chance that Gregg isn't our manager for 2026 than is, but the fact that we're even at the table with him right now is so dumb.

Have we not learned our lesson? Our last three World Cup managers all regressed with a second cycle.

Maybe after a gigantic failure in 2026 not only will we get rid of Gregg, but we’ll take a long hard look into the biggest thing holding us back

The USSF

How do you kill excitement 4 years in advance for the World Cup being hosted in the US with a home team that should be entering its prime....?

This is how.

Exactly. How in the world could the powers that be at USSF not be cognizant of this?

It is a fair question to ask who is realistically out there.

Like I don't want Gregg for a 2nd cycle, but I also just don't want some frick because he isn't Gregg. That's how you end up with Jurgen.

You've got a group that will be entering it's prime, and you have 4 years to get them in a spot to really compete on home turf.

Invest in a legit coach. Don't think about someone who "is available." Go take someone worth it who "isn't available." Money talks. With a hosted World Cup and a team like we could have - go for broke.
