“When I left Dortmund Pulisic came through, so I had him as a 16-year-old in training and I thought ‘Oh my god! Wow,’” Klopp said. “So, then you see him later with Chelsea doing well and now AC Milan.” Klopp and Pulisic’s paths just grazed each other as the American was shining for Borussia Dortmund’s U17 team during the manager’s final season with the club. Pulisic would score 10 goals and add eight assists in 15 games with Dortmund’s youth teams and make his debut with the senior team the season after Klopp left to join Liverpool.

In all fairness, every team on the planet would want Klopp to be their coach. At least we tried.

Now, lets delete bruce arena and cherundolow's contact info and get a real intl manager.

I think Cherundolo is a "real" manager. I'm just not sure he's ready for the international game yet. Just because he's currently in MLS now, doesn't negate the fact that he did all of his coaching training in the Bundesliga.

No problem getting turned down, I would have filliped shite if I found out Klopp was interested and we didn't open talks.

At least I feel confident now that we're actually looking for the best possible coach, and not what's easiest

Assistant coaching youth teams? Sad state this is the biggest name being thrown around after Klopp. Hell of a gap there. Next potential candidate should be Joachim Low of Germany although in the end its going to be an MLS coach: Nancy, Cherundolo, Curtin

It’s ludicrous to hope for Klopp, and we shouldn’t kill our expectations because there are some quality coaches we could hire.

But why is that ludicrous? It’s literally just setting a target. It doesn’t mean that anyone else is automatically a let down. The two can simultaneously be true…pursue the best and also recognize it might not happen.

I think the "good" part in this is that USSF reached out and was turned down by Klopp last week per that report. Good to know that they stuck to their guns and still fired Gregg despite getting turned down by Klopp (and I'm sure more), unlike last time when they crawled back to Gregg after everyone turned them down.

Crocker is learning.

I wonder how much it was due diligence of enquiry vs serious offer.

If Klopp wanted to be the coach he'd be the coach.
