we hated aspen as well. Fortunately we stayed in basalt which was wonderful. A few hours in aspen was more than enough

Our youngest daughter got married so travel funds were limited. We took one trip after her wedding to Disneyland.
New airport: SNA
New city: Anaheim
Coming up in 2026
Las Vegas in January to go to the Sphere
Washington D C for the 250th celebration
Cotswolds probably in December

quote:this year we traveled mostly to see live music
Concerts and music festivals seem to be your main travel factor? Any cool bands?
dead ahead festival in cancun was bob weir, sturgill simpson and others
lots of billy strings (nashville, st aug, missoula, huntsville)
grand targhee bluegrass festival (greensky bluegrass, yonder mountain, stringdusters, molly tuttle, lukas nelson)
dead 60 in SFCA was dead & co, billy strings, sturgill and trey anastasio
its a great way to see new places and/or revisit favorites and to meet new people

I concluded my Ethiopia trip in 2025, but I unfortunately had to cancel my plans to visit Egypt and South Africa. My only other travel was a short trip to NYC.
New airports:
AXU - Axum
LLI - Lalibela
GDQ - Gondar
2026 Plans
This coming year, I'm taking my daughter and son-in-law to Italy next May/June for 12 days: Rome, Tuscany, Florence, and Venice. I was in Rome in 2016, but I haven't been to Florence, Siena, or Venice since 1992, and we'll have a couple of days in small Tuscan towns that I have never visited: Orvieto, Pienza, and San Gimignano. My daughter and son-in-law have never been.

Surprised to not see LAX, PHX or BOS on your AA connecting city list. I guess you can fly everywhere from DFW though...
Fun fact - I have never once flown through BOS. I occasionally connect in PHX when I go to SEA, but not many MSY-PHX flights to move it. LAX is rare for me as well because of the extra connection to get there.
I use DFW/MIA for APAC and LATAM and CLT/PHL mostly for EMEA.

Dallas
Orlando
Buffalo
Sardinia

Off the top of my head...
Light international travel year with only Costa Rica, and no new airports.
Other than CR mix of work and pleasure US travel, no new airports or flight destinations. Some new small towns/cities driving.
Flights for the year:
NYC 4x
Chicago 3x
DC 1x
Baltimore 1x
Miami 2x
Tampa 1x
Bay Area 2x
Houston 1x
Boston 1x
Also took 8-9 Amtrak trips, no overnights. New trains included the Mardi Gras line on the gulf coast and the next gen Acela in the NE corridor.

Even with all of my travels, I've never flown through PHX or BOS.

Never been to BOS but have been to Sky Harbor many times. Nice airport.

I've done both, but I have never been to or through SEA, PDX, DTW, or SLC. I've been in every other US airline hub.

I’m doing something wrong with my life….
Let’s see… road trips to Nashville, Huntsville, Birmingham, 30A, St. Louis and Indianapolis!

Terminal E at PHX is really nice and has an Amex Lounge, not Centurion, but still nice. Much better now that they have the train instead of busses to get to rental cars.
BOS is decent, but old. The thing going for it is it is by far the easiest Uber pickup of anywhere. Can order Uber when walk off plane and by time you get back past security and cross over one lane, your car is waiting for you.
I think the only Major US airports I haven't flown into at this point are DFW and JFK.

Slow year for me, but I did get a new airport (PIT). My wife and my first time in Pittsburgh, we were impressed and would definitely go back. The baseball stadium is awesome and getting to see Paul Skenes from behind home plate was a treat. Hard to beat 8 rows up for $100 a ticket
Had a short drive to Moab in April for Arches NP and some other state parks.
Drove to LA to meet a friend for a Dodgers/Yankees game.
One one-way flight to BR to help my in-laws drive their vehicle up here. Another great road trip with my dad.
Flew nonstop from SLC to MSY on Delta again this year for early Thanksgiving with family. Cannot recommend this flight enough to anyone coming here. You are there before you know it.
Not sure on next year's travels, but it is our 10 year anniversary, so probably something big in August. Other than that, I think we will make some road trips to Southern Utah again, Montana, PNW and possibly Redwoods or Sequoia NP.

Feels like you travel a lot, this is interesting. I've flown more in the past 10-12 years than I did in the previous 30 plus, but I don't feel like I've traveled alot compared to many here. Based on wiki the only large hub out of 31 I haven't flown to/through is San Diego (SAN). I've been to the city, but drove and took train from LA. Interestingly was scheduled to fly there in March 2020, but the COVID shutdown cancelled that trip 3 days before.
I wonder if part of it is i've mostly traveled out of a medium hub (MSY), and while over the years I have had status before with Delta, United, and SW, I've generally picked flights by price and travel time and have flown all of the major carriers plus some over the years.

March: Baha Mar and Purta Vallarta
April/May: Got married in Dallas, flew DFW-DOH-DXB for first leg of honeymoon in Dubai. Was my first time in Q Suites, it was incredible. Flew DXB-MLE on Emirates Business Class for 2nd leg of honeymoon, then MLE-DOH-DFW back in Q Suites.
August: Calgary/Banff
September: Pinehurst
November: Mayakoba
Bunch of work trips throughout the year to random US towns/cities.
Got some good trips planned for 2027 as well Im looking forward to.

Sort of a light travel year for me. Changing industries had me home bound for the first time in a while. Still made a few trips.
Domestic trips to Chicago, Indy and Nashville. Made our way to Japan for two weeks in the Spring. Hit Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Nara, Kyoto and Himeji. A quick jaunt to Mexico City back in October.
12 flights…. 22,000 miles traveled.
For 26’ we’re doing Buenos Aires, Cusco/Machu Picchu and then finishing up in Lima in March. Hoping to do Iceland in the Fall.

My wife and I really enjoy CDMX. We went on a whim for the first time last year and it really surprised us. We can get direct flights from Tampa pretty cheaply. It’s now turned into a bit of an annual tradition for us. Odds are we’ll return in 26’.
We tend to stay in the historic district/Zocalo area.
The city has a vibrant culture and genuinely feels safe despite what you hear about Mexico. There are some amazing museums and archaeological sites. Overall; it’s also pretty walkable. Public transportation is available; but, quite crowded.
There’s lots of fun day trips. We did a hot air balloon ride over the pyramids in Teotihuacan; it was pretty amazing. Boat cruising in Xochimilco is cool. Hit up the Frida Kahlo museum. It’s a full day but Tolantongo is pretty beautiful and a very chill way to spend a day.
If you are a foodie; there’s some amazing choices. If you just love cheap eats; you can eat tacos with Michelin ratings for less than $2 each. Makes for a fun weekend getaway. There’s a bakery in the historic district that’s the oldest in the America’s. Been in business for 150+ years. You can buy a concha the size of an NFL football for less than $2. CDMX also has a very underrated cocktail scene.
Definitely worth checking out…

Guatemala, Guadalajara MX, London, and Paris
All new places, I don't receive miles for the most part because I'm never committing to one airline. I play the field.
