I loathe Denver security lines

Precheck is a breeze through Denver.

If I have to do a layover I always put it in Denver to go outside and chill by the outdoor area near the hotel.

I love Denver.

We should come up with an overall travel board list, pretty good idea. Pretty sure a lot of us have been to nearly all US airports, I think defining the criteria is going to be the key here. We all have a bias towards our home airports. Wonder if having a list of all available airports and having someone create a survey where each poster ranks the list of available airports from 1 to 50 would work?

My list (note within each tier they're not ordered, just general groupings)-
Top
SLC
MSP
DTW
PBI
BUF
ANC
BTR
KOA
BZN
FAR
RDM
IAG
JAC
MYR
AUS

Middle
LGA
DFW
MSY
IAH
IAD
MCI
PHX
BOS
SFO
LAX
BWI
TPA
SRQ
DEN
SEA
ATL
PDX
ABQ
ASE
PHL
DCA

Bottom

ORD
CLT
MCO
MIA
JFK
EWR

DEN has had repeated problems recently with the trains to the terminals, sometimes causing passengers very long delays in getting to their gates.

The only thing holding MSY back from being elite is the crappy concession workers (food/retail)

It’s not as important because MSY has very few connections, but it’s really bad

You haven't had to transfer between terminals at FLL.

Is there a lot of that?

Thats why I put those categories... IMO, those are the handful of things I think about when discussing an airport

Cleanliness
Dining/Lounges
Size/Ease of Getting Around
Airline/Flight Options
Transport (rental car/uber ease)
Proximity to Attractions/City

Denver is a shite show and no where near the top

Everyone always rips LAX, but I’ve never had an issue. It all depends on what airline and terminal I guess. I fly American and I just walk straight to luggage and out to get an Uber 30 feet away. No issue whatsoever.

I feel like Vegas keeps getting worse

DFW is going through $1 billion transformation and has remodeled a ton and building a brand new terminal. I like how it’s very spaced out. It keeps moving up my list.

DFW is prob one of the only major US airports I haven't flown into or out of at some point.

Off top of my head JFK and MIA would be the others.

LAX is entirely dependent on what side of the horseshoe you are on.

During the morning or evening flight block, it could take you an hour to get to the far terminal. They need a better system.

The terminals are all much better since being updated.

LAX isn’t terrible, but certainly isn’t in the top tier within the U.S.

Genuinely curious how a Travel Board list would go.

I agree with SLC being #1

Portland and Detroit are my two favorite, but I'm flying with United 99% of the time so rarely get to use Detroit as a connection point. I like SFO as well.

New LGA would be my 1 seed if there was a subway line direct to the airport. Pure insanity and a protection racket for the cab medallion holders that that has not been built.

Detroit is nice and LGA post-update is amazing, but convenience wise, they both take a step back for me.

SLC is amazing all the way around and is 7 min from downtown.

BNA is a top tier for me and would potentially be my #2 if they’d remodel the older terminals to the same as the new.

MSY, DEN, and PHX are my bottom 3 when it comes to renting a car and MSY is by far the worst. 20+ min on a bus to get to it now

The SkyTrain at PHX is now connected to the rental car center, so no more bussing. Agree with DEN, car rental facility is a haul. IAH is a problem with all of the construction going on.

a “haul”? You hop on the Avis bus and they drop you off after a 5 minute ride LOL. And that’s after riding the train from the arrival terminal. I take more steps to my mailbox than I do renting a car in Denver

How is FLL ranked below MIA? It’s way better.

The United terminal is fine (others seem okay as well) but the Delta terminal at FLL is just awful, especially if you're getting off a cruise and sitting around for 5 hours. It's basically a DMV waiting room with maybe 20 total bar seats.

Can anyone elaborate on what makes EWR so bad?

It's really not that bad. It used to be, but they redid Terminals A and C (main United). Food options aren't great, but building itself is fine. There are delays, but in my experience, fewer than CLT or PHL

Hollywood Burbank Airport is absolute trash. Most disgusting airport I've been in.
