I think Tulane ends up going with Napier.

To someone else's point, I think this is a more long-term candidate for them. He needs career rehab and won't get hired away for a while. If Baker came in and won a lot, he could be gone in 2-3 years.

I’m confident in lane bringing in a good one if needed. No worries here

If I was Tulane I would legit go with Napier. He's proven he can win at that level and he's likely there a bit longer.

Pretty solid list of names there. I'm selfish and want him back obviously but Tulane has been a solid place for coaches recently. Good luck to him

That's a strong coaching lineup for Tulane.

They really have stabilized their program.

I would think he would be their number one choice logically. No one proven other than billy and he proved he cant do shite to be a playoff contender

Good for everyone involved but if he stays next year and they play in well, he could likely get a much better gig.

He'd have a better chance at power conf job by have a few years of success as HC at Tulane than he would as DC at LSU. The big programs want HC experience. That's why LSU, Auburn, Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma St, UCLA, Virgina Tech, have all hired guys with HC experience.

Tulane is his alma mater and he wants to be a HC. You can hate it as an LSU fan, but Tulane has proven to be a good stepping stone for coaches in the last few years. If they offer Baker, he's gone.

I feel like the launch pad is hitching your wagon to the Lane parade and jumping to an SEC job after a natty.

Could be Lanes Kirby/Lanning

I would sure think Baker would be their first choice but I am wrong once in a great while.

So you liked Matt House’s defense Read and react and a ton of zone. It’s the exact opposite of what most young players coming into college programs are used to. It’s also harder to teach with the turnover of the portal era, because the defense has to play in sync at all times. It worked better for Stoops at UK when he had an easier time retaining players and coaching them into it over the course of years. The portal and NIL really fricked that up for him.

So no thank you to him and Brad White. Their defense has started trending downward for a reason. It’s just not the best fit and it would be a huge transition.

That depends. Lanning and Elko went straight to P4 jobs and did very well immediately. It took Clark Lea a minute, but he pulled it off. Freeman, as well. Aranda has been up and down, but he’s still alive. So there is plenty of precedent for success moving to a P4 as a top coordinator.

As for this season, UK is likely about to hire Stein. Schumann and Klein are still in play as dominos continue to fall downstream.

Really did feel like it worked only with multi-year system players and upperclassmen. Hard to do these days unless you're a BYU or something.
