The fact that Frank would say that publicly speaks volumes about the stuff he’s been doing doing (allegedly)

Jesus. If you were in his situation and didnt yet know if you were being retained how would you answer the question when asked by a reporter?

Its an honest answer. fricked up to view it as an indictment on his character.

Those discussions are ongoing, but right now I'm focused on making sure we are ready and focused for the Texas Bowl and the Houston Cougars.

Misleading...

There'll be opportunity there. Where that lies, I'm not sure. But the priority is our current football team,

This means they are trying to find a spot where he will fit. With newer NCAA rules, he can be an analyst, and still recruit and coach at practice.

I just don't want to see him on staff at A&M, Texas or Auburn. He would be a major pain in the arse.

He’s not a good position coach and probably would need to take a pay cut to be on any staff.

Only thing in my mind that will suck is losing the interest from past players

Well back then the players mainly committed to the 3 letters on their helmet and chest. So I think they’d still have plenty of interest in LSU. Nowadays yes seems like most kids commit to a certain coach and $$ and not the school.

It's all about NIL.

Recruiting to a school doesn't matter.

Recruiting to a brand does STILL matter, but it's all about the $$.

Frank Wilson's pitch is mute now.

Good reply. And as it turns out thats pretty much what he said:

quote:

"We've had conversations. For me and for Coach Kiffin, let's play this game on the 27th and we'll go into those details later. We just want to finish what we started with this football team, with the team of 2025. Give them our undivided attention before transition happens. So until then, nothing will necessarily happen in that regard. There'll be opportunity there. Where that lies, I'm not sure. But the priority is our current football team," Wilson said on Tuesday.

I think Jaques tried to summarize it in a tweet and the drama queens on here went off and took their pitchforks out.

It's wild how much this board has turned on Frank because of the flimsy/likely untrue rumor that he was holding recruit signings hostage.

He's not head coach material obviously, but damn the assassination of his character based on nothing is insane.

Why do y'all have this dude still around to coach the bowl game if he's not going to be retained.

Probably because they want to keep him but don't know what can satisfy him. Lane likely has someone else in mind for his position so that would slide him into a front office role that he might not want to accept.

Let's be real here, he's one of the highest paid RB coaches in the country if not the highest paid and his production level for his RBs has been way below par since he came back to LSU. He had some great runs under Miles but I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe it wasn't all his fault.

I feel like the word "clarity" is doing a lot here

To be fair, we don't know how the question was phrased. Probably was asked if he had some clarity on that. I mean Lane can't give him that right now. If Smith doesn't come then I see a chance of him staying. But obviously, Lane has a right to bring in his own people.

NOLA- It sounds like he has a spot somewhere

quote:

“We've had conversations, and for me and for coach Kiffin, it's let's play this game on the 27th and we'll go into those details later,” Wilson said. “We just want to finish what we've started with this football team, give them our undivided attention before transition happens.

“Until then, nothing will necessarily happen in that regard. There will be opportunity there. Where that lies, I'm not sure. But the priority is our current football team.”

quote:

Now in his second stint at LSU, Wilson has been the running backs coach for the past four seasons, and he was promoted to interim head coach after the firing of Brian Kelly. Wilson worked on Kiffin’s staff as the wide receivers coach at Tennessee in 2009.
“Outstanding leadership,” Wilson said of Kiffin. “A savant of football when it comes to the knowledge of the game. Great leadership and foresight in building a program, so we’re very fortunate to have him here at LSU.”

quote:

“I've done it before, so it's not totally strange for me, individually,” Wilson said of coaching through the bowl game without clarity. “There's a 2025 football team that I've been a part of — we've been a part of — since inception, the beginning of the season, that has one more game to finish. That's very natural for us. Because of my relationship with coach Kiff, it allows us to have smooth transition, interaction in the building.

He could try to spike the punch bowl on us in NOLA but we are still the big dog in the area and one man can’t keep LSU from getting LA recruits.

If LSU wins under Kiffin as much as we think LSU will, NOLA players would have a hard time NOT considering LSU. Winning consistently and looking good doing it will go a long way with recruits.
