Dude, you are still spouting this sad line? Have you been living in a cave for the past 30 years?

Imagine thinking that Louisiana isn't one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. You don't know what you're talking about.

let's go take a look at the 247 Top 250:

Florida: 30 players
California:25 players
Texas: 33 players
Louisiana: 9 players....

Florida- 23.8m residents, or .13 top 250 players per 100K
California-39.6m residents, or .06 top 250 players per 100k
Texas- 31.8m residents, or .1 top 250 players per 100k
Louisiana- 4.6m residents, or .2 top 250 players per 100k

To argue LA isn't one of the best recruiting pipelines in the country is absolutely silly.

LSU has to get those 9 players.

The other big states have to battle several other big schools in state for theirs.

Not to mention, top 250 high school rankings are worth little to nothing. Look at NFL per capita and it isn't even close. I'd rather be landing *actual* NFL-caliber talent, rather than a kid who's ranking was overinflated by some recruiting website, and he ends up being a flop.

Wouldn't the absolute numbers of NFL players matter more if you were using that metric? Do you have numbers where more kids from Florida flop in high school compared to other states?

For example, Florida has 3 times the amount of players in the NFL with 179 compared to 59 from Louisiana. Not sure why the per capita number matters.

If Alaska had 5 NFL players, are you saying that the University of Alaska Anchorage would have the better pipeline?

Yeah, I'd rather tell him $1M per win.

It’s hard to imagine anyone in a good, stable SEC coaching situation leaving it to coach LSU.

Not when those absolute numbers are watered down by 3 major in-state universities competing for them. LSU has historically had a fence around Louisiana.

Snapshot numbers don't do much to support an argument that inherently considers long term viability. If Kiffin took the LSU job, he wouldn't be only considering the amount of NFL players in the league as of 2024.

Reductio ad absurdum fallacy.

3 major schools. 3 times the NFL players. Seems like its pretty much the same thing.

Do you have any stats showing kids from Florida flop more than Louisiana?

I've said it before, the LSU argument about being the only big school in the state makes a ton of sense in comparison to Mississippi or Alabama. It doesn't make nearly as much sense when comparing to Florida or Texas.

It does specifically in the case of Florida as you are the lesser school of at least 3 better athletic programs in your state alone. Miami, Florida State are far better athletic programs and I’d argue that UCF has passed Florida in athletic relevance recently.

One school with 59 NFL players > one school with 5 NFL players.

179 divided by three schools would be about the same, unless more of those players didn’t end up at those three schools (or if it wasn’t an even split among those three schools).

I wasn't saying Louisiana is better. My posts have been in response to the following:

quote:

No one talks about how the state of Louisiana when it comes to recruiting

That is an absolutely hilariously bad take.

quote:

Not saying that. The two states are certainly comparable to recruiting. I was commenting on the cave man sentence from earlier that Louisiana isn't a well-known recruitment hotbed. And supporting an argument with some Rivals top 250 or whatever is just dumb. So many 5 stars roll into a school and are never heard of again, while 3 stars become NFL starters. Per capita NFL numbers are proof enough that Louisiana is right up there with California and Florida.
