It’s about time they did something that makes sense.

If Matt Campbell was a viable option what has PSU been doing for 6 weeks?

It's another smokescreen. They've got a coach in the playoff all lined up. This is just a sophisticated misdirection, I tells ya!

Striking out on candidates and getting other sitting head coaches a raise?

8 winning season in ten years should be good for Iows St? Im not dogging the program because I don't follow the program closely. Always thought they were kind of a down program before Campbell was hired. I think they had 3 7-6 seasons with Campbell.

Shouldn't Campbell been considered sooner? He currently makes about 5 million a year. I wonder if he leaves for like 8 million.

it may be that Campbell told them he wouldn’t consider any serious offers til after the regular season

PSU threw out some numbers to other potential candidates with the idea that if some of their big names fell through they could always come back to offering Campbell

i think he might take it, so long as they are willing to abide by his terms

it's seeming like he might take this job. I'm bummed. ISU's AD is to blame. he's been fricking football over for years and Campbell is apparently tired of it.

Y’all are paying him 5 mil per year, that is peanuts in this college football environment

ETA:‘Penn state was paying Franklin 8.5

It’s crazy to consider that he’s been a head football coach for 15 years and still in his mid 40s

Come on PSU, you know that Kelly is the very best option for you. Go get him, and I am betting on pretty cheap, but we will take anything.

Coaches don't leave Iowa

because Iowa and Iowa St are great gigs. Win 7-8 games a year, get paid 5-8million/year for 30 years, never have to worry about getting fired. Sounds pretty awesome to me

One of my buddies from Iowa State has connections to ISU (sauces!). He says there is friction behind the scenes between MC and the university regarding NIL commitment. So, don't be surprised if he jumps to Happy Valley. TIFWIW

Campbell would be a really good get considering how poorly this search has gone.

Big difference here is that ISU doesn't have the money to counteroffer. Money is tight in Ames.
