That's all we gotta do.

With us and Mexico winning today, the closest Panama can get to us by the time we play them is 1 point, which means a win puts us up 4 with one match left.

Spare me the "but.. but... Trinidad", we shouldn't be afraid of Panama at home.

I’m just glad that we will have VAR for that game. I imagine unprecedented levels of shithousery from Panama.

But an ugly 1-0 win gets us into Qatar, and we can rest everyone against Costa Rica.

As long as Costa Rica doesn’t get 9 points. Would be some concacaf shite for sure.

Llainez did us a favor by diving, and concacaf did us a favor by showing favoritism towards Mexico.

And Choocky did us a favor by dislocating his shoulder to get Lainez into the match. Looks like he will be out two months. Stars could be aligning for our first-ever WCQ win at Azteca!

If we had a competent manager, getting a point or possibly all 3 at the Estadio Azteca imo would be possible. Not only is this a very bad version of El Tri, they have one of the slowest midfields I've seen. Playing a low block and countering with our pace would cause them major issues. They have just as much trouble as us breaking teams down. Instead, Gregg will install his Norman Dale transition where we have to make 5 sideways passes before advancing forward.

If we lose to Mex and beat Panama and go into the CR game with them having 6 point in the window, that game in CR will cause some puckering.

We are historically terrible in Mexico and CR. This cycle, we’re terrible everywhere outside the U.S. This next window is primed to repeat the Couva debacle.

Tickets for that game are reasonably priced right now, and flights to Orlando are cheap AF, will very likely be going to the game. We play well in Exploria (4-0-0) so I feel good about a result, especially with Reyna hopefully back.

Canada beating Costa Rica in the first game would be greatly appreciated

They only need to get a draw to help us.

At this point (and yes I know Ct. Obvious speaking), just let Canada, USA, and Mexico keep winning. As long as we draw in Azteca and they keep helping us out we're golden. But then again if we're so 'good' and in our 'golden generation', then we shouldn't need to rely on help from others. Eventually we need to assert our dominance in away games like these... maybe not Azteca per se, but places like Costa Rica surely.

It would be nice to win at Azteca, but that match is almost irrelevant. If we win that but lose to Panama the next week, then we likely go to CRC needing two points to avoid the playoff. OP is correct. Winning against Panama is the most important thing next cycle. That alone would allow us to book our trip (barring a miracle from Costa Rica).

Yea a draw helps too, but a Canadian win would mean 1 point in the final three games for the US would be almost certainly enough to finish ahead of Costa Rica on GD unless some crazy score lines happen

We shouldn’t be afraid of Panama at home, but nor is that game a layup. Panama was at least equal if not the better team last night in Mexico. Panama playing for a draw will be difficult to break down.

Interestingly (and sadly) this Panama game will be the last home World Cup qualifying for the US for seven years. If we come into that game healthy I do think our talent advantage shows out on a clean pitch in front of a great crowd.

I’m just hoping Adams doesn’t get a yellow card in Mexico

If we get a point or possibly all 3 I think you’ve pigeonholed yourself into saying he’s a competent manager

Is anyone else facing a yellow card suspension?

I don’t think anyone got a yellow card in the last 3 games.

And does Mexico have any covid restrictions at Azteca?
