“ During their first joint campaign appearance in Philadelphia, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz pushed a ban on AR-15s and other firearms that Democrats refer to as “assault weapons.”

They're investing in gun manufacturing. They know a ban won't pass.

Nothing to worry about here. Just the presidential candidate openly wanting to ban some guns. Never worry guys, SCOTUS will protect us just like it always has and always will.

Just make sure you go and vote for people that are going to protect your rights… in every election.

Why take the chance? Give these people an inch and they'll take a mile. Stop them NOW.

Just show them your pocket Constitution and Bill of Rights, man.

That’s why I have a FN-FAL. Not an assault weapon. It’s a main battle rifle.

Walz is an astroturfed phony. Its insulting to think one of our major party's believes we can be spoon fed a candidate that slept her way to the top and rural/small town America can have the wool pulled down over our eyes like Walz is "one of us" when his record/policies would horrify real small town Americans.

Many fools said
1. Castro had no chance of ousting Batista
2. Hitler would never become a threat to Europe
3. The Shah of Iran would nit be overthrown
4. Vietnam was no match for the US
5. Saddam Hussein would never be captured, tried and hung in public.

Perhaps the most disturbing thing from the last presidential election, was realizing just how much behind-the-scenes control is actually going on.
I enjoy collecting and shooting firearms as a hobby. I frequent a lot of internet message boards focused on this hobby.
Biden's campaign stated he wanted gun control. He even listed it IN DETAIL on his official website. It was laid out what types of popular firearms he wanted banned.
Universally, if you posted anything about that on one of the gun boards, they would delete your post, warn you not to "post on politics", and ban you if you kept it up. Generally that might make sense, other than the fact that one guy was completely in favor of eliminating a lot of what the boards discussed... which is a relevant thing to consider.
One of the bigger sites, the moderators eventually revealed that they were under pressure, that the web hosters and servers were leaning on them, and if you posted 'anti-Democrat' stuff the board could get shut down. I think it did happen to an AR site.
The funny thing is, I remember posting a protest about it on one site, saying it was comparable to a candidate wanting to ban gasoline engines, and a classic sports-car web site not allowing discussion about that (when it would eliminate the very reason the board is there).
That was BEFORE the Dems starting trying to eliminate gasoline engines...

I was being sarcastic. There are people who feel that way. Who just assume, for no good reason at all, that our guns are safe and Dems are just pandering.

Seems like they've dusted off the assault weapons law from 1994 that was in effect for ten years. The democratic base loved it, but ultimately it was not effective in reducing firearm deaths or shootings.
Edit: They can pander for votes, but the odds of actual passage of something like this are extremely low.

Correct. We already have seen what Dems want to do. Look at blue city and state laws. No, Dems are not able to do “gun grabs” but they WILL make gun ownership harder and more expensive. They’ll enact restrictions etc and good luck striking down such laws in court—that’s an expensive and time consuming process.

Yeah, only the complete disappearance of handguns would make a dent in gun crime. Disappearance as in handguns don’t even exist so criminals truly could not get them. Which is of course not realistic or constitutional. But AR15s are scary looking to the average non-shooter and have been used in high profile mass shootings.

Fourth Circuit issued a decision yesterday upholding Maryland’s Armalite rifle, I mean “assault rifle” ban.
MD AR Ban Upheld
These lower courts are just completely disregarding the USSC’s more recent 2A rulings. It’s blatant political advocacy.
So off to the Supreme Court we go. The USSC will 100% accept this case and strike down the Maryland “law”. Recent 2A rulings make that clear.
But that won’t stop them. It’ll be different, nuanced prohibitions that will be upheld for years by lower courts before eventually ending up in front of the USSC. We just have to hope we’re not in the grips of a Communist majority Court at that point.
