Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) says former President Trump should stop questioning the size of Vice President Harris’s crowds at her campaign rallies and instead focus on her as a candidate.

“You’ve got to make this race not on personalities,” McCarthy said Monday in an interview on Fox News. “Stop questioning the size of her crowds and start questioning her position, when it comes to: What did she do as [California] attorney general on crime? … What did she do when she was supposed to take care of the border as a czar?”

The former Speaker said Trump should also hit Harris on inflation, noting she was the tiebreaking vote on key legislation that has come to define the Biden-Harris administration. He also urged Trump to attack Harris for changing her position on certain policy views in the last couple of years.

“This is a perfect person to run against,” McCarthy said. “You thought John Kerry was a flip-flopper? She is the biggest flip-flop, with the most extreme positions, and you got a short time frame to do it.”

“So don’t sit back, get out there and start making the case and use her own words to do it to her,” he added.

Trump has repeatedly focused on the large crowds at Harris’s rallies, even going so far as to suggest footage of them was created using artificial intelligence.

Good advice.

But Trump is going to be Trump.

He’s already done that. Thanks, Kevin. Now go back to being irrelevant.

While I agree; it is very funny Kamala is using ai and buying audience members and that should at least be mentioned. Which it has. Let it go for a bit and let the libs hang themselves.

I agree. I think DJT is an a-hole but with the choices I've got, he's the one that I want to be president. When he makes these stupid statements, he's not winning votes. However, he is taking away from what is important which is McCarthy is pointing out.

What is it with Trump and his obsession about bragging on crowd size? Must be a dickmeasuring thing with him

He's right. Harris is a failure so make it known far and wide that she hasn't been up to the jobs she's had. No one should want to see her become president with her track record of failure with a further doubling down on the policies that have been so disastrous.

I agree. Trump needs to stop focusing his whole campaign on Harris. He should focus on all the issues that will be different and better for everyone. Focus on how the government has lost its way by treating citizens as enemies of the government.

So the guy who presided over a weak mid-term race, couldn't convince his own party to make him speaker without much humiliation, then couldn't keep the speakership is the political genius Trump should listen to?

This is like the post 2012 "autopsy" where party insiders recommended that to win elections, Republicans must become democrats.

Let's say 9 out of 10 times Trump makes criticisms on issues. Is one out of 10 times okay to make character or style criticism?

I think Kevin McCarthy is in no position to be giving advice when he was recently fired from a public sector gig.

He’s wrong. It’s all about crowd size and social media views. Trump should stay on message.

A horse can find water better than a man if you'll give them their rein.
