Saints are a solid long-term destination for a new coach

PFT
quote:
Do the Saints have short-term challenges? Yes. So do the other teams that fired their coaches. Rarely does a great job with a great team pop open. Owners fire coaches because their teams aren’t good.
quote:
The Saints always have cap issues. And G.M. Mickey Loomis and his staff always find a way to solve them. Yes, they’ll have to slash roughly $50 million from a roughly $275 million spending limit for 2025. They’ll restructure some deals. They’ll cut some players. They’ll make it work.
quote:
The Bears have a very good overall situation, since they have a young potential franchise quarterback and an otherwise solid roster. The Patriots have the quarterback; the rest of the roster needs work. But consider the other teams that made coaching changes. The Jets have been continuously dysfunctional under the ownership of Woody Johnson, with a 14-year playoff drought. The Jaguars have been one of the worst teams in the league since Shad Khan bought the franchise more than a decade ago. The Raiders have two foundational pieces (Maxx Crosby and Brock Bowers) and not much else. They also compete in one of the toughest divisions in football. And the Cowboys are the Cowboys — there’s talent to compete but an owner who creates more roadblocks than on-ramps.
quote:
What do the Saints have? An owner who is patient and doesn’t meddle. A General Manager who has built teams that consistently contended, when they topped off the rest of the roster with a great coach and a great quarterback. While neither are easy to find, that’s arguably all the Saints are missing. And so they hire a first-time coach in Moore (like they did 18 years ago with Payton) and they find a quarterback, like they did 18 years ago when Drew Brees was a free agent and the Dolphins didn’t want him. The fan base is zealously supportive. The division isn’t chock full of juggernauts. The Saints are a far cry from the pre-Payton Aints. In the short term, it’ll take work. Over the long haul, and assuming the new coach gets time to turn things around, it could work.

Slow your roll my friend…..
Saints have a plethora of issues that can’t and won’t be fixed overnight.
I hope Moore is a patient man and can deal with Saints fans who are not patient !!

Same guy on PFT stumped every year how Bienemy deserved a head coaching job. Multiple articles a year how he was getting screwed over.
I wouldn’t put much stock in what he thinks…

The man used logic to write an article. I know it doesn’t match the drunken woman emotions that’s spewed on this board but he’s right. I don’t like the guy that much either but, this whole “nobody wants this job” thing is ridiculous. They have a guy they want. They can’t hire him right now.

Sweet solid plan. I don’t know why more teams don’t use this blueprint. Find HOF coach and sign HOF QB in FA at a discount due to injury issues. Boom! We’re back boys!

Happens all the time dumbfrick. SP was not a hall of fame Coach when hired, he was a young up and comer like KMoore.
Remember Denver’s Manning lead Super Bowl and success.
And everyone knows stellar qb play at a discount is a home run.
Brady took less to do it for years.
Teams are searching for rookies QB to play, hoping they hit that sweet spot of championship level play BEFORE the big contract comes (Russel Wilson).

While technically truthful, I wouldn't call morphing the above into a positive logical

Holy shite

So fix the big cap issues, draft a bunch of good players, turn over our currently aging bottom tier roster, find a near HoF level coach and HoF level qb and we’re set for success in a world where everyone else is trying to do the exact same thing.

“he can build contending teams if he has a HOF quarterback and coach” no shite huh?
Both of which he was fortunate enough that their first choices rejected them (Green Bay for Payton and Saban/Miami for Brees).

Yes, eat the shite sandwich they have in cap this year. Draft well. You know, the things they’ve already done recently. You people act like this hasn’t been done by this organization with its current structure. Loomis deserves all the criticism and comments. Probably deserves to lose his job. But, to think they can’t find a good coach (doesn’t need to be a Hofer), the franchise qb, and fix the cap issues then you’re not overly smart.

Did Loomis pay Florio to write this?

PFT wrote this article in exchange for future tidbits from the Saints. Not even a question.

I must’ve missed our recent willingness to be cap savvy without pushing more money into the future and all these productive drafts that you speak of.

Of course they can fix every issue wrong with the team hypothetically. So can any other currently shitty team. That doesn’t make it any more likely than any other team or make us a “solid long term destination.” We’re still a bottom 3 situation in the league and that’s not really debatable.
-bad cap
-clueless owner
-old gm stuck in his living on credit ways who hasn’t drafted a real difference maker in a few years
-no long term qb
-no established coach
-aging roster
-no star player under the age of 30.
By that logic every team in the league is a “solid long term destination.”

This ia the NFL. We could easily win division next year. The league is designed for parity.

Any team COULD turn it all around. But you can’t really argue against us having more things to fix than almost every other franchise including the biggest ones.
Which is why the article is meaningless.
It basically says “do all the shite every crappy franchise is hoping to do differently and you’ll have success in a parity driven league”
Like it’s just that easy.m apparently. It’s an article written because the author has a minimal amount of content they need to create.

We know it goes against the emotional ones here but, he also stated how this team is one of the only ones who were hiring this cycle that have proved they can do this and do this at a consistent level. Nobody said it was easy, he said they have an owner that doesn’t get in the way, a gm who has had a ton of success (i hate him right now), and after this year the cap issues are gonna be behind them. Yes, every team needs to draft well. Yes, every team needs a franchise qb. You’re one who things it can’t happen. The writer was just showing the idiots that this job is desirable and they can turn it around. But of course, it still triggers the women.

To be fair you (and others) have easily posted as “emotionally” as “the women” (and usually much more so

Funny thing is once this team hires the next HC, 17 teams will have a HC that has been with the team for less than 3 years. Not saying you are wrong; I just find it interesting that in the past 3 years half the teams have turned over their coaches.

Legit questions.
How do you know she is clueless about what is going on? She relies on Dennis L & Mickey to update her on the team; similar to how a lot of CEO's run their business. There is a great CEO mentorship program I am involved in, and one of the first topics they discuss is adjusting how much time you spend working in the company as opposed to working on the company
And on that topic, how many other teams do you think the owners are truly hands on? Do you think the Hunts are heavily involved (even before the recent success), the Halas, Maras... And it's not like she is the only female widow/heir owning an NFL franchise. Tennesse, Seattle, Detroit, and Chicago all come to mind

Look douchebag, if I want advice on what to do if I'm arrested for abusing my dog, I'll ask for your opinion. Other than that, shut the frick up
