The sale of Duke's Real Mayonnaise parent Sauer Brands Inc. to a Boston private equity buyout shop has been signed, sealed and delivered, the companies recently announced.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the value of the acquisition by Advent International was pegged at around $1.5 billion, Bloomberg News reported earlier this year.

I guess the Dukes Mayo bowl game will be looking for a new corporate sponsor.

Wasn’t private. It was already owned by a NC-based PE firm.

PE firm.

Not trying to be a dick but you know what the P in PE stands for right

Hopefully the enshitification spares Duke. Not holding my breath, these vultures know no boundary.

I saw BJ Barham last night, and when he sang Cherokee Purple I wondered if this news would eventually ruin the song or perhaps make it better, given the song’s nostalgic theme.

Ain't it funny how a memory comes flooding back so fast
When you accidentally stir up moments from the past
Back when things were easy, not a care in the world
Back when summer days seemed to move in circles
Duke's Mayonnaise & Cherokee Purples

Had a chance to chat with him after show, and we talked about how to make a good tomato sandwich. He’s a NC State fan, so we also talked about Tommy White and Will Wade. Super nice guy.

I do. Should have clarified. In our group privately owned is frequently used for family-owned

Am I the only person who doesn't really like Duke's? Feel like it gives a funky taste to anything I use it in.

Like it but prefer Blue Plate. I find BP is more mix of savory, salty, sweet and sour while Dukes is mostly savory.

What makes 1 mayo better than the other? Aren't they all made with the same ingredients? They all taste the same

This sucks. I’ve been a Blue Plate guy my entire life and still love it, but Dukes is better.

Dukes tastes tangier. I like it better in pasta salads.
