Deshawn Spears...Likely the Star position, right?

I think he’d actually fit the role a little better than Harold Perkins giving that he can obviously cover better in the pass game and is still also not scared to come up and make a tackle in the run game

Jimcoli has been projected to be a Star. If he’s ready, he may have that job.
Spears may just play one of the Safety positions as Halsey’s replacement. He’s seems to be a good fit in that role.

Spears could be a good option. Maybe Charles Ross too, they say he’s fast, would help him in coverage.

Cooley can play nickel as well. So, Spears and a portal guy can still be on the field with Cooley at the same time.

This would be my vote, Cooley at Star, bring in another starting S in the portal and have Jhase Thomas get bigger and stronger and grow into a 3rd safety or basically the role Spears played this year where he gives you +\- 150 snaps.

This “Star” position has been a failure since day 1, regardless of who’s been there. Maybe we can tweak this position for more effectiveness

Jimcoily v Gilbert for starting Star spot. The Star has been a really good tool to have. Perkins may have limited what we could do, due to having strengths and weaknesses atypical to a more traditional Star/Rover, but to say that it hasn't worked, is not true.

Is he coming back? Seems as though he took a redshirt to get a 6th year, I figured it would be somewhere else. Guessing he’d need a waiver for that 1 year at A&M where he was injured.

They may not need a star position if they have 3 traditional LB bodies who are capable.
