Well its looking like the NFL ( take Burrow at Cincy) you pay a ton for a few superstars… their offense seems to be loaded… but not enough money to build out even an average defense
I suspect we are seeing some of this now in college. So let the Texas Tech overpay for one person using a disproportionate amount of their NIL budgets. Will they have a well-rounded team? This is all uncharted territory for college level.

Oil money. They’re stupid and could never find a way to do it successfully under the table. But now they don’t have to worry about that.

Did they outbid or overpay? Go back and look at the success LSU has had at QB. Mauck, Flynn, Burrow, Daniels....these guys were good and became great with great coaching.

Texas Tech is desperate. They can throw all the money they want. What I saw Thursday in their playoff game, I’d be embarrassed if I was a Tech fan. They can all the players they want their coaching is abysmal. Weak schedule and can’t play with the big boys.

I don't think we want to set the precedent that a starting QBs salary here is 5mil+ because that then becomes the starting point every year.
TT feels like they're on the cusp and need improved QB play to get over the hump, so he's absolutely worth splurging on to them. We have a substantial amount of spending to rebuild an offense from scratch, that extra couple million is crucial. Sorsby hasn't shown he's so elite that he can mask other deficiencies, he was more the best readily available guy.
I wanted him but can also understand sticking to our value, just because you can spend the money doesn't mean you should.

It really is laughable that some of you think that anything from Louisiana isn't going to continue to be a disaster, no matter who the coach is. I wouldn't give them a dime
