CFB Blue Blood Rankings

I made my own rankings formula and wanted to see everyone's thoughts. I'm willing to tweak the formula if I get some good suggestions.
Starting with the results:
1. Alabama 7.68
2. Ohio State 7.13
3. Oklahoma 6.5
4. Notre Dame 6.4
5. USC 6.2
6. Michigan 6.15
7. Texas 5.16
8. Nebraska 5.05
9. Penn State 4.96
10. Georgia 4.88
11. LSU 4.69
12. Tennessee 4.14
13. Florida 4.07
14. Miami 4.02
15. Clemson 3.96
I kept going with about 50 teams total but these are the top 15.
Below are the criteria I used and the points awarded for each criteria:
All time wins: .2 points per win
NCs (recognized, not claimed): 8 points each
Decades >1 with NCs: 4 points each
Bowl appearances: 1 point each
Heismans: 3 points each
Weeks at AP #1: .3 points per week
Weeks in AP top 25: .2 points per week
BCS CG Losers: 4 points
Playoff Appearances: 3 points
Undefeated seasons without NC: 3 points
Rose/Sugar/Fiesta/Orange bowl wins: 3 points
Peach/Cotton Bowl Wins since 2014: 3 points
On campus playoff wins: 3 points
These totals were summed up and then divided by 100 to get the scores you see above.
My reasoning for the extra points for NCs in more than 1 decade is because I think a blue blood should have sustained success over long periods of time rather than just have a lot of success in one era. I didn't put a ton of value on weeks at AP#1 because the NCs are already weighed so heavily with the NC and Bowl game points combined plus the polls tend to suck a lot of the time. BCS CG losers get 4 points since it's implied that they would've won playoff games if given the opportunity to play them. The Peach and Cotton Bowl wins since 2014 ensures all playoff wins get extra points. I considered turning the bowl wins down to 2 points but I worry it devalues history prior to the playoff era too much.
Most of the data came from winsipedia or other internet sources. Vacated wins have been removed from the All Time Wins count for the most part. There may be a few that were missed. However, i did not remove "vacated" NCs, Heismans, or bowl wins such as USC's 2004 season. Split NCs are included as points for both teams since they are recognized by the NCAA. The data is updated through today, 1/6/26.

Can you really join the blue blood list?

I’d have to think of how you’d do it, but I’d weight the last 25 or 30 years more heavily. Nebraska’s days are over and anyone under 40 doesn’t give a shite about them.
Oklahoma is back to at least relevance, but they’ve won nothing in of consequence in current players lives. Whereas Georgia has been the second best program of the last decade.

Yeh Nebraska might as well be in the Princeton bucket now.

Might want to add in a period there

Yale would rank 8th in all time wins despite a longer history than most programs. They last claimed a NC in 1927.
Princeton would rank 12th in wins. They last claimed a NC in 1950.
Both are now FCS teams. Blue blood status lost

You have the top 8 as the top 8 so that's a good start. Also, you have Bama 1 and OSU 2 which I think is right, then there is a gap between 2-3 and 6-7.

Why didn’t you include avg length of penis in these rankings?
I mean, you included ‘on campus playoff wins’, which is such a pertinent data point with absolutely no skew…

I gave them 3 because they're rare. Only 1 per season since 1935. Even dropping them from 3 to .3 would only flip Michigan and USC. Everything else stays the same

Because every other playoff win is captured in the bowl wins. It didn't feel right to not give any credit for the 8 home playoff games just bc they arent bowls. But its such a miniscule number that it doesn't even really matter.

All non championship playoff games should be weighted the same

There probably should be some sort of weighted curve to make everything older less impactful. It'd be a ton of work to do it with the wins and weeks in the polls so I'd probably only do it with something like NCs and Bowl wins. But it's a good suggestion.

They are. The poster I was responding to was implying that I shouldn't include home playoff wins just due to the specificity. But it's necessary. They all get 3 points

Only the top 6 are blue bloods. The rest of the list is that next tier. If a team isn't a blue blood now they can't join it for the foreseeable future until many many years last. That's not to say those other teams aren't great programs because they are but not on the level of the top 6.

Nebraska is dead and has been going on for 30 years. Penn state continues to be a super overrated program to me.
It’s been 40 years since their last national championship. I realize they got screwed in 1994 but that’s over 30 years ago now. Most of the programs ranked 11-15 are all way better than Nebraska and Penn state this century
